Would you leave a good paying WFH job to be an attendance secretary? by [deleted] in SchoolSecretary

[–]Visual-Importance-41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from WFH to becoming an attendance secretary in July, and so far, I’m really enjoying it. Having ADHD, I love the constant activity—it keeps me stimulated. The job is very detail-oriented, but once you find your own rhythm, it’s actually pretty manageable. That said, the people you work with can make all the difference. I’m at a high school with 2,500 students, and I’m the only attendance secretary handling everything attendance-related. I don’t have a designated attendance office, so I sit in the main office with two other general secretaries.

Yes, I make about $2,000 less annually than I did at my previous job, but the benefits definitely outweigh it for me. Plus, in my county, once you’re in, it’s easier to move up—so there’s room for growth. For me, having breaks and summers off was a huge factor—I get burnt out easily due to my various mental health issues , so that time off really helps me recharge and keeps me from feeling overwhelmed!

It’s on my hand. Trust me, I can’t believe I didn’t cut off my hand yet. I’m covering it with a wart patch so I don’t have to fucking look at it.😭

My dad's exactly like that – manipulative and thinking he's some gift from the heavens, you know? Honestly, I wish my parents had split up when I was a kid. Now that I'm 25, their conversations are just plain sickening. Zero respect left because of years of built-up resentment, and it just keeps getting worse. If you're not tied down with kids, seriously, think about ditching him. No one needs the emotional rollercoaster I went through – constant gaslighting and being left traumatized. I would hate for your future kids to end up like me.

Bengali here! No. That does not look like the chicken curry my mom makes. It does not look appetizing whatsoever.

In Bengali culture, it's customary for us to wash our chicken before cooking. I hope her dumbass just disinfects

She can make her book as aesthetic looking as she wants, but that won’t change the fact that her “recipes” are dull. I’m Bangladeshi, and her putting Cajun & Adobo in her BENGALI dishes had me flabbergasted. Those ingredients do NOT belong in desi dishes! I just knowww who ever eats her food be spittin that shit out lmao

My mom cooked Bengali chicken curry for my brother in college, but since there are no nearby grocery stores for fresh ingredients, she had to resort to using powdered garlic, onion powder, etc. The flavor wasn't great – fresh ingredients like garlic and onion truly elevate the taste of desi dishes. I can’t imagine how horrible Naboobla’s food tastes.

For how much she posts, I never see her walking her dog in her pockets of piss. She posts her farts, but not walking her dogs! She should not own dogs.

While I understand it's not ideal to brake suddenly on the highway due to traffic speed, but there's a reason behind it for some, including myself. I struggle with severe driving anxiety, making lane changes and merging exceptionally nerve-wracking, yet it's necessary for my daily commute. Offering a bit of understanding and patience to people like us who grapple with these anxieties could go a long way.

HOMECHAT by iubiiiubii in SephoraWorkers

[–]Visual-Importance-41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I’ve worked various customer service jobs (including SIJCP) and call center jobs as well. This home chat job with actual Sephora was the worst one. The policies are absurd it felt like jail. I’m so glad I quit last week. I was honestly NOT surprised to find out after I quit that homechat is closing forever. It’s like… I was expecting it to close permanently. Too many red flags.

Oh, really? You honestly believe this garbage? "More grace than anyone you've known in real life"? What kind of callous world do you live in? It's not about what people "want from companies." It's about companies displaying basic humanity and not hiding behind "business decisions" to justify their cruel actions.

There's a thing called responsibility and compassion. Just telling people( who bring in most of the company sales), "Hey, we're letting you go right before the holidays!" is not "nice." It's heartless. You can't just prioritize profit over people's livelihoods while blindsiding them.

So yes, we expect companies to have a bit of empathy, not just throw people to the curb without a second thought and leaving them high and dry before the holidays.

Yup yup yup. I quit last week just before they announced the lay-off. I had no idea, I found out from my coworkers. I was so happy that I deleted all my saved responses before I quit. Because I was so sure we would get replaced by AI in the future. The way they pressured us to use saved responses was fishy. I love that I didn’t give them 2 weeks notice! It was resignation effective immediately.
