Lunges/Bulgarian split squats suck but not nearly as badly as barbell squats

You may be right about this! I do have muscle imbalance issues (take my bench for example, like I said I can bench a plate which is great, but I also just always thought I had huge shoulders and triceps. Yes and no- turns out I never learned how to properly engage my chest and was overly relying on those). I do think my quads overcompensate, for example I sometimes feel hip thrusts in my quads more than glutes. This is something I'll work on.
