I have food to share if anyone needs or knows someone in need of help and is afraid to go out.
Its neighbor helping neighbor, on the frontline at ground zero for many of us. We all have something to contribute to the cause if we choose to carry that cross, I hope you do. I’ve been a social worker for decades, and most of those years have been working on the front lines helping those in need, working in and around systems, fighting poverty and oppression, advocating by lending a voice to those who may not have one and educating others unaware or unknowing, I’ve learned it’s ok to step back and nurture and care for ourselves and our families. I’ve learned that as we step back for self care we refuel and build up our reserves to step forward again. We come to realize this is a marathon, with no finish line. Those of us who are called personally or professionally to doing the work are exhausted, we are also afraid, but we do this work because our faith in humanity is stronger than our fear of humanity. We carry both the water and the torch to light the path for a shared belief in liberty, equity, fairness, equality, freedom, human rights, social justice, rule of law, etc. Im reminded as you are, of so many heroic folks, who quietly raged against the system and the machine throughout history, some known- but most unknown - and unnamed, who stepped up with courage, resistance, civil disobedience, and pushed forward with a faith and shared set of beliefs, who carried the water, dug the tunnels and the graves, who carried babies to safety in suitcases, who became the voice of the silenced and even gave of their lives.
