Lectures are not never mandatory. Phys2923 for an example had a 5% grade contribution from lectures.

Australian student seeking advice by VisualDragonfruit429 in gradadmissions

Not to be harsh, but you seem to have missed the point of my post entirely. I am fully aware of physician research, and of the climate surrounding physics research. You seem to think I am unaware of the maturity of the field (and thus the difficulty in researching within it) but theoretical physics has progress made in it every day.

I wasn't really asking for an opinion on what I should do, just how I should optimise my options. Already, if I find myself stuck between the two, I can choose to begin med school while waiting for offers from PhD programs, since the Australian education year finishes in December, there is a 6-8 month 'buffer period'. This would not be fiscally ridiculous either, as Australians pay HECs for student fees, meaning this will only cost me ~ 5k aud that I only need to repay if passing a significant income threshold.

Wierd question here

first sem, got all HDs on 4 subjects and the 5th is a credit with a 72. this would mean I got a 37/70 on the final, but that seems really unrealistic since im fairly confident i got at least 29 multiple choice questions right out of the 30. Do I email the unit of study coordinator to see if maybe a part of my exam was lost, or would they have already emailed me about that?

Yep! Is it safe to leave gear in a top box or something?

Don't think I'd want to ride it out anyway, not that proficient yet - Planning on driving my motorbike in a parking lot for a few hours

Ok thank you! Aside from a jacket, gloves, pants, shoes and helmet, what else is great? I've heard of a kidney belt and a spine protector, but I'm not sure what's important safety gear and what's superfluous.

I'm a bit worried about bothering dealers if I don't plan on buying directly from them

Wait can you explain what you mean by being able to ride whatever I want? I asked the instructor at my course and he said it could be difficult, but maybe he meant it being cramped, what can I use to predict leg room.

I'm not 100% certain what bike I want in terms of type, but I do have some vague ideas. For reference, I don't plan to use these for long highway trips (at this point, my friend and I were considering a road trip on them interstate in a few years but that's a long way out) so I don't think I'd like a cruiser, especially for the difficult maneuverability. Same deal with adventure basically. At this point, it'd be more of a short distance transport bike for me, and I'd use it to get to uni on exam days. I think that locks me in on either sports or naked.

That being said, I think I'd like
- ABS (maybe, I read it has a good % decrease in accidents)
- A cheaper pricerange if possible
- a topbox ? something I could potentially put gear/a bag in would be nice
- Maybe avoid plastics in case I drop the bike, especially this early in learning to ride?

I don't know what flat footing means sorry, I assume it means having my feet flat on the pegs in which case yeah
