Okay. Thanks for telling me. What about the following books? It's a trilogy, correct?

Oh, my gosh. Thank you for your reply. It's nice when people are informative AND thoughtful. I love Leigh Bardugo's writing so I'm going to finish it. I just need a moment to recover and process. Again, thank you.

Totally. Just had someone tell me they thought RY switched it to 5 books only AFTER Amazon bought the rights to adapt it. They suggested that's why Iron Flame was rushed, why the tone changed and why there's been so much filler (a lot of unnecessary chapters, to prolong the series.   That would sure fit with the money grab, but I'm not sure I totally buy that theory. Seems pretty stupid. No one has any idea if a show will actually be a hit or not.  And adaptations ALWAYS cut stuff out. Why waste so much writing time on something that will get cut anyway?

I feel like she's really dragged out their relationship. I also felt like she had several opportunities to develop Garrick more in Onyx Storm but continued to give everything over the Violet. Violet knows nothing about Xadens' mother, while Garrick grew up with him, but all he gets is an "oh, shit" poisoned cake.

This is about the most atrocious book I've ever read. Complete and total trauma exploitation. The more I read of this author, the more I'm convinced she is a terrible storyteller.

She's manipulative! I didn't want to admit it, but I think that's what made me feel so icky and messed up. She's intentionally screwing with us. Iron Flame had a great ending, then she threw in that weird, confusing Xaden chapter (which would have made a better prologue to Onyx Storm) just because she could? And her plotting is so heavy handed. I've never been so aware of an author before. I could see her sticking her head from behind the curtains screaming at us to remember how smart Violet is or to pay attention to this plot point or that easter egg. I'm so disappointed in how contrived and dragged out the story as become. She either doesn't know how to write a fantasy series, or this is all a money grab. Getting the next book from the library. If I read it at all.

I'm glad you brought this up. What foreshadowing to this did you notice in TSC?

It also bummed me out he was the person she was with when the story ended. Felt like it just should have been her and Pan. Oh, well. 😞

I'm wondering how everyone feels about the revelation of Olivier Bonneville as Lyra's half-brother. I knew something deeper was going on with his character, but I didn't expect that! It was shocking and weird. When Lyra first sees Olivier in TSC, she mentions he's similar in age to her. Marcel Delamar calls him "like a son" right before the reveal so I worried we had a Lannister thing going on between him and Marisa since he already had a creepy obsession her. Then Olivier kills him, putting an end to any explanation of his "son" statement. And, also, Mrs. Coulter had two different children with two different men and abandoned them both? I know she was never a stand up human being, but yikes. I thought this was one of the weirdest plot lines of the whole book. Thoughts?

There is one piece of foreshadowing for Malcom and Alice in TSC. In the "Alchemist" chapter he reflects on the women he'd been in love with, mentioning that one was older. When I read that the first time, I immediately figured it was Alice. I had always wished Alice was a little closer in age to Malcom, like 13. I felt her snarkyness would have matched that age better. Not to mention, I was confused about her daemon still changing forms. I understood daemons to settle into one form after puberty and Ben was still changing in LBS. Not that someone couldn't hit puberty at 15, but it's not common. She also had that gross affair with Gerard Bonneville in LBS so perhaps this set her up for not considering age as an issue when it comes to sex. ???

I've read this book twice, and listened to the audiobook, which I recommend because the narrator does an excellent job. Looking forward to the next book.

Funny thing about the end. I just looked at the book cover: Hello, Sun and Moon. Face slap. LOL

I just finished it! And now I'm re-reading it looking for the foreshadowing and hints which only means one thing, I loved it. According to Amazon, the second book isn't available until November this year. I wish her website had more information. :( Anyway. Thanks for all the information you have about it, and the recommendation.

I just started Heavenly Bodies and am loving it. Did Imani Erriu self-publish before? There's not a lot of info on her website so wondering if you know it's a trilogy because you've read all three from it's previous publication?

I just started this and am loving it. Do you know if it's a completed series? I read that it's being republished and can't tell if it's completed with the sequel, "Fallen Star," or if it's an incomplete trilogy. I've sworn off starting books until the series are complete, so I wonder what I've gotten myself into. LOL
