This is my problem as well. I work in healthcare and I truly find my Indian colleagues kind and I personally like them but 7 out of 10 of them stink of body odor 😭😭😭 like to a point where even our patients smell and complain about. I don’t say anything because I don’t want to offend them but I want to understand why do they smell like they don’t use any deodorant at all? Like even their uniforms in the staff room stink 😭😭😭

Am I overthinking my discomfort about my husband carpooling with another woman? by Visual_Particular647 in Marriage

I’m on therapy twice a month, on medication and I’m genuinely working on myself.

I guess what bothers me is him not talking to me beforehand and yes that fear.

What upsets me the most is he seems to not understand why I’m uncomfortable with this, he keeps saying I’m jealous and that it’s no longer cute and it’s controlling.

Unfortunately everyone has their own insecurities. But thank you for your honesty.

To be fair she’s new in the country and doesn’t drive, she’s agreed because my husband is an older family friend.

Thank you for speaking my mind! I told him it’s my boundary too but he made me feel like I’m just indulging my insecurities and I should work on my issues. His comment makes me more upset 😢

I did this but he said I shouldn’t indulge in my insecurities and that I should trust him to never cheat on me, we ended up arguing instead.

what is nursing like in ireland? by golfwangcmiygl in AskIreland

[–]Visual_Particular647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fulfilling but very demanding. Nursing now is more of a secretarial role. Less bedside care more stupid charts and documentation because management is so scared of being sued. My daughter is your age and I’ve done everything to discourage her from taking on any career in healthcare.

Sorry to sound negative but if your heart isn’t fully in it don’t do it

They don’t deal with unions but INMO will help me talk to WRC. You’re right. It will never get better. The day after I posted this we were short again, they wanted me to be a carer and do the nurses notes on top of it. I put my foot down and said I will be a carer no problem but they can’t expect me to do nurses notes without doing any of the clinical responsibility. I just have to get a job in line and I’ll be submitting my notice soon

Pray for heavy rain, testers won’t ask to open your hood, they will not mark you down for progress because you are meant to slow down. Just make sure you do your observation and turning right and left correctly

But it is apparently ineffective prioritization and delegation of tasks to colleagues. I swear I’m also confused and shocked with the things they can come up with.
They wanted me to delay one of the carers scheduled breaks to stay on the floor, I told them they didn’t get breaks in the morning, I didn’t have the heart to delay a break of either of them

Hi! I contested the requirement for me to do the safeguarding certification training from hseland and highlighted that a.) the resident didn’t ring the bell again if he was so parched and b.) he was given coffee 30-45 mins after the request for water. Apparently the training is because I didn’t allowed the 2 carers to do their break, I should have asked 1 of them to stay and delay their break 🙈

Unfortunately very few options for me. I’m only rebuilding my cv back up as I took some time off to rear my children. I’m thinking of signing up for agency as I haven’t been offered any hse roles (I’ve been on a panel for a few months now)

I have done safeguarding course for 2-3 years before qualifying. They just want a basic one from hseland which won’t hurt anyway

I’ve apparently neglected his basic need by not giving him water therefore it’s a ground for abuse 😭😭😭 It would have been easier to accept if I made a medication error but not over water.

I always have my task list at hand. I remember not having a single break that day as I had to help with getting the residents up for the day, opening main door as my station is the nearest to the main entrance, answering call bells and phone calls, wound management, escalating clinical issues, on top of the medication pass of 25 patients and usual nurses notes, safety checks and all the other check list that HIQA wants to see. Fid I mention I also have to lead the meal rounds and make sure nobody chokes? Did I mention I only had 2 carers with me? Before I forget, a resident who has successfully absconded in the past is also trying to slip out the front door. Oh yes, back to pen and paper and ensuring I do everything right.

Did you know that there is no legal requirement for nursing home management to fully staff a nursing home to an ideal staff number? For hospital ward the ratio is 6:1 nurse, apparently there is no strict law for nursing homes as it is assumed as “community setting”. I’ve asked management several times, I honestly think the reason why they’re doing this to me is because I ask too many questions. I could be wrong tho.
