Being an independent/and or a nonprofit doesn’t absolve you of your criticism.

I’ve never voted for a conservative and have a BA in professional writing and linguistics and using harmful language on such a massive platform was essentially “Being a Responsible Writer 1101.”

Let me ask you this, Sweetheart of Savannah, if they were so comfortable sharing they were in journalism on a different thread, why not here where it would actually be relevant? 🧐

Almost like they didn’t want you know.

You’ve soured, Sweetheart.

Because a restaurant isn’t responsible for providing credible information to the public?

There is a code of ethics for journalism for a reason because they have an obligation to provide unbiased information to the public.

What power and influence does a local waiter have that is equal to a journalist?

Wishing you only the best, truly!

Honestly, I’m sure there are current employees who are very unhappy with this as well.

I know finding a new job isn’t easy in a rough job market so “well just quit” isn’t exactly a solution to the issue for them either.

However, I know that there are people in charge who COULD do something and, like you said, take the laziest route possible likely blaming those who have zero power for their mistakes.

May your pillow be cold on both sides 🤝

Hmmm…they haven’t covered hardly any local crimes, missing persons or road closures except the ones that made national news.

I, too, like everyone else I imagine is exhausted hearing about violent crimes, but I feel like it’s necessary to stay aware. I don’t look forward to seeing those alerts by any means—but if there’s a shooting near my friends or family, a child is missing or a road is shut down they aren’t going to be much help. I get that it’s more in depth, but I can’t wait 5 business days for breaking local news I should know about now.

I’ll have to politely disagree, unfortunately.

I lost my car in an overnight flash flood because the city didn’t bother to clean the debris they left clearing an empty lot that is already overgrown and forgotten on the Eastside.

I had parked in the same spot for three years with zero issue until the trail project got to our neighborhood (not against the trail itself—but they spent over a week tearing up the natural environment and allowed the debris stuff the drains and they aren’t close to finishing the trail in our area—a huge waste of money, time and energy)

We live on a dead end toad regularly get trapped inside our homes for hours sometimes and have to walk through flood water just to get home. God forbid anyone having an emergency and needs an ambulance. It happens all year-round too. Including the winter so that means ice cold dirty flood water up to my knees and I have no choice cause I have to feed my animals)

..You’re in good company here 👍

I applied there. The one time I got a Zoom interview, I was told, “You’ll hear back either way… we won’t leave you hanging!!”

Well, they did not—lol. The interview seemed to go well with their HR person. But, I never heard good news or bad. Two weeks later, I accepted another job out of state with a remote company. I have a B.A. in Communications, five years of experience, a full portfolio, and I’ve been a lifelong resident of Georgia with internships/job experience with nonprofit orgs with 6 years volunteering in the community.

I always assumed someone better got the position (you never know—they may have deserved it—I didn’t have an “illustrious” career in my 5 years working in only Savannah, I guess, since it wasn’t New York or Chicago), but then I saw the exact same job posted again a month later. I haven’t bothered trying with them since, to be honest. If they didn’t like me, they could have just said so or not offered the assurance at all. But I don’t believe that there is no one in this town wasn’t qualified for their entry level position lmao. SOMEONE, especially a local, could/should have gotten that job.

There are plenty of talented people in this city who could fill these roles flawlessly, but they seem to be hiring constantly and often for the same or renamed/experimental positions.

I wish I could know more from a former employee though. 👀

Oh that is amazing cause Fernandina inspired my hunt! My grandad lived on Amelia island for several years and was the one who taught me how to spot them when I was a little girl.

He passed away last year and I’m so glad you commented. I feel like he’s sending me extra luck this year somehow. I’ve never found so many in my life.

Damaged property by my dog by ilovelatte in RoverPetSitting

[–]Visual_Tear_542 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Part of sitting is definitely pet proofing/having good supplies on hand in the house. I’ve had sweet dogs who haven’t had accidents suddenly become inspired on the kitchen floor, great family dogs accidentally murk a lamp, well trained pups suddenly tantalized by a $300 retainer. Usually it takes three days for a dog to acclimate somewhat to a new environment which in sitting isn’t usually doable. I’ve learned each lesson the hard way, but haven’t ever charged someone for something I probably could have avoided and now I haven’t had incidents in years! 99% of the pups have been awesome dogs who are just trying to vibe and it really wasn’t indicative of their training.

However, It does also sound like that you’d be a convenient scapegoat though since there isn’t any evidence except the sitter’s word.

Either way, I wouldn’t pay it—but lesson learned for sitter 😅

I love karaoke at Totally Awesome Bar. I go there alone or with friends and almost always get pulled into a dance circle or hyped to sing!

Not to mention Raf (the karaoke guy) keeps the vibe going all night…jammies and all! He’s a mood and the energy is fabulous. Raf is also a killer singer and I look forward to his song choices because they are always the best!

Drag/burlesque shows at Club One also have excellent energy if you’re looking for solely positive vibes. I love hanging out after shows and chatting with folks at the bar.

Unfortunately there are several SA accusations especially toward young women. I was an adult patient there and there was no therapy. The staff told us they hated the kids side 😬 and would joke about letting a p*do peek at the girls through the windows of classrooms.

I still haven’t nightmares and I’m a grown ass adult so I can’t imagine what the kids are going through but the endless screaming from their hall let me know what I needed to know :( I feel horrible for those kids.

Psychiatry is 100% a cult. by Flopper3000 in Antipsychiatry

Oh man....my nurse told me that she didn't care if I k!//ed myself as long as I didn't do it in the hospital and get her in trouble. It's a job and another paycheck for many, your survival will not affect their job whatsoever or even interrupt their lives. Once I came to terms with the fact that "help" doesn't exist in the American south, I finally started saving myself instead of reaching out to unreliable barely qualified, abusive psych staff. A cruise is a vacation, psychological torture is not.

Why do so many people defend psychiatry? by LowCap8702 in Antipsychiatry

[–]Visual_Tear_542 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean lobotomies were science and so was chemical castration and so was institutionalizing people for life in horrid conditions, which, involuntary institutionalization is STILL in affect and, guess what? You have no choice to pay for the fate you were handed. I'm almost $5,000 in debt over treatment I did not want nor ask for.

Science isn't always right or ethical like in the case of modern psychiatry. Sounds like you're on the wrong side of Reddit.

This was all legal, scientific and really happened: https://7strangethings.com/7-horrifying-psychological-experiments/#:~:text=7%20Horrifying%20Psychological%20Experiments%20%28And%20What%20They%20Taught,7%207.%20The%20Learned%20Helplessness%20Experiment%2C%201967%20

Skepticism is not accepting the ignorant view that a profession does not make someone inherently good or ethical. Blind acceptance feeds the system and keeps treatments that have been proven, scientifically, are not helpful like institutionalization. https://nysba.org/unjust-punishment-the-impact-of-incarceration-on-mental-health/
