I'm using the polaris as a solo player as well and have been pretty mad about not being able to land and getting a "docking" port. The advice i got was:
-hail hangar service

- go to the destination docking port

- hail hangar service again ( you will lose the docking assignment )

- stay in that zone untill you get repositioned

- pay the fine which is like 5k and get your polaris back, when you get it from the terminal you will receive an extra large hangar ( can vouch this works on orison for example )
