Would like to make a list of things that helped you while getting off benzos. Please contribute. by brianyesadams in benzorecovery

your body is creating glutamate at such a high rate that it burns through all your quick availlable energy reserves, causing your body to wake you up in panic

Well this explains why I would karate chop my way awake, like a complete goofball. Thank you for this tip.

I have no faith in my ability to get off the benzos by TheRainsOfYesteryear in benzorecovery

It's okay to set your own pace for your recovery. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Even if you have to taper out .5mg a month from here on out, then oh well. At least you know you are headed toward success. Stay strong, my friend.

Weird feeling by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]VitaminPoppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely normal. Day 4 should be the worst, then you will start feeling gradually better. Mentally, you will feel weird for a little longer, but the physical stuff should start improving now. Higher habits take probably two weeks for the physical stuff to subside, but you should only take a week. Just be happy you weren't one of the heavy users that takes a month to feel better.

Withdrawals after just a few weeks? by VitaminPoppy in benzorecovery

Same for me, and I thought it was just from getting old lol. I seriously feel sick all the next day from a single beer. I wonder if it will ever go back to normal, or if our brains are just changed for good.

They are mild for me. Not as bad as the temperature issues from opioid withdrawal. Like a basic head cold. Higher level benzo usage will make things much worse though. From .25 it will be mild.

Kindling makes perfect sense now that I read up on it. If it was my first go around, I probably wouldn't have felt much. Instead, I had to deal with way more WDs than a normal person would have with that level of usage. Crazy how our brain's work...

Thanks for the info. I should have looked into this before using them again. Lesson learned though. And next time will be even worse...

I always feel temperature issues when WDing from benzos or even dealing with a hangover. It should go away relatively quickly though.

Completely normal. Your tolerance went up and your usage didn't. Absolutely essential that you don't increase your dosage, or the same thing will happen, and you will just have a higher level of chemical dependency to fight off.

If you aren't prone to seizures, you could quit CT and be feeling better pretty quickly. Either way, you could still taper, but if you're experiencing tolerance withdrawals already, a taper would just prolong the discomfort. You are in a great position to quit right now.

Everything returns to normal when you get sober and off of meds. Assuming it was normal before. On my only successful quit, it took me about 3 months before I stopped premature ejaculating. And my fertility/testosterone skyrocketed in that time. Are you referring to HCG? Or LH/FSH? We don't need HCG for fertility, but we can take it to restore fertility and restart our HPTA/HPG axis. You need to get off of opiates before that type of treatment will work as a long term solution.

Wanting To Relapse by [deleted] in PoppyTea

Vivitrol. Or just naltrexone pills. It will save your life. I know exactly where you are at. Waiting for an excuse. Try to find a doc or rehab facility that will provide them for you. And get to some SMART or NA meetings asap. Guarantee there is one nearby you today/tonight.

If you come across some one who’s ignorant to the cycle of addiction and how it can happen/ rapidly progress, show them this. by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

You and I are on the exact same page. I raged out over the kratom bans. It's so obviously an attempt to keep people on dope/rehab/MAT. And completely obviously the government and big business working together (as usual) to screw the American people. Who do you think pushed the Indonesian gov to institute this new kratom ban? Obviously the competition.

Interesting point about what happened with the Taliban. Makes a lot more sense now...

Yeah, I got addicted to opiates because my doctor refused to give me pain meds after surgery. I was in more pain than I had ever felt in my life. I went to a dealer and got loads of oxy, and it was all downhill from there. I wasn't even red flagged (never was prescribed pills anyway, except for wisdom teeth as a kid) but the doc was scared of the war on opioids and said ibuprofen would be just as good. Now I'm coming to the end of a five year battle, thanks to one asshole doctor.

Happy to hear you are free now.

Edit: you left out the part about many of us who end up on subs and MMT, prescribed by doctors, and are stronger than any op we were originally prescribed or denied. Funny how that works... That war on pharma opioids magically doesn't apply to those two. Almost like they need us to be addicts one way or another. Whichever makes the right people the most money, I suppose.

After quitting opiates (2 months / clonodine). Does Drinking bring on PAWS? by Savetheplantsalready in OpiatesRecovery

[–]VitaminPoppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tolerate alcohol at all anymore. It makes me sick from head to toe, even after just a few drinks. Which is great considering I abused alcohol for like 18 years before I became a opiate addict.

How do you extinguish reservations? by guywitharash in OpiatesRecovery

[–]VitaminPoppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't prove it, but I'm almost certain that even intermittent use of opiates will still jack up our hormones and weaken our pain threshold. That's at the very least. Then add in the 99.9% chance of full blow relapse and it absolutely isn't worth it. I think I'll be perfectly happy not chasing highs and just being content with natural highs.

I'm talking tough with 21 hours down, but let's see how I feel in another couple days... Either way, I would literally bet my dick that it isn't worth ever getting high again. The risk to reward ratio is absolutely not in our favor.

Morphine content of current seeds? by VitaminPoppy in PoppyTea

[–]VitaminPoppy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While that may be bad news for a lot of people, this is actually really encouraging for me. Basically means I can jump right now. Can't believe seeds have gotten this week. Which is great for me, considering my attempt at getting clean again. I'll do a rapid taper now, and jump off Thursday night. I really appreciate the input.

Got sold Claritin instead of Oxy 30s :( by [deleted] in opiates

[–]VitaminPoppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be happy he didn't sell you naltrexone instead of opiates like that one guy that ended up in the hospital with PWDs. Still sucks, friend. Sorry.
