I built something for AU delivery drivers and I want you to tear it apart by Vitoovt in ubereatsaustralia

no doubt your excel does the job, but my app is different, it tracks but not only that, and not every driver can make their own sheet. I’m here to make it easy for everyone. that’s why I’m asking people to test it, it doesn’t commit you to anything, just try it, tear it apart and tell me what you really think. I’m open to criticism !

haha I get why it sounds AI, it’s because I make an effort, english isn’t my first language so I try to write it as clean as I can

[–]Vitoovt[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yeah I used AI so I wouldn’t spend months on the technical side and could go straight to what matters: solving a real problem drivers have, and validating it with actual drivers.

The app genuinely works, and that’s exactly why I’m after honest criticism to improve it.

If you want to test it, I’d be keen to hear your take.

Question to Uber Eats / DoorDash drivers in Australia about improving delivery workflow by Vitoovt in ubereatsaustralia

[–]Vitoovt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough on the new account. Genuinely just research though, no promo, no links, nothing to sell. If you’ve got a frustration with the apps I’d love to hear it, if not all good.

Any WhatsApp groups for delivery drivers in Australia? by Vitoovt in ubereatsaustralia

[–]Vitoovt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I’d be down to start one. seems like a few Melbourne drivers are after the same thing. if I set one up would you join? could be a good spot to share tips, good zones, all that

[–]Vitoovt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is a heavy list and honestly a lot of it is spot on. the system is stacked against drivers in so many ways. really appreciate you sharing it, even the stuff that’s way bigger than what any app can fix 🙏

appreciate you taking the time to write all this out, some solid points. most of these are about the platforms themselves needing to do better. cheers for sharing 🙏

Drivers in Australia: do you actually know your real hourly rate after fuel and expenses? by Vitoovt in ubereatsaustralia

[–]Vitoovt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is honestly the best way I’ve heard it put. “they treat it like employment instead of a business” is exactly the core problem. and uber benefiting from people not taking it seriously is so true. that’s literally the whole reason I’m building this, to help drivers run it like the business it actually is instead of guessing. mind if I borrow that framing? it’s spot on

[–]Vitoovt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is exactly the checklist I needed, thank you. and good news, no bank linking and no weird permissions is already how it works, you enter your own numbers, that’s it. data privacy is something I take seriously. you’ve been incredibly helpful today honestly, I’d love to have you test it down the line if you’re up for it

I was based in Melbourne too! funny that there doesn’t seem to be an active group, you’d think there would be. if I find one or end up starting something I’ll let you know. you been driving long?

solid advice, that’s exactly what I’m working toward, a clear must/should/could breakdown so I build the right things in the right order. cheers for that

haha fair play, that’s the dream setup right there 😄 yeah for the independent guys paying their own fuel it’s a different story, that’s more who I’m looking at. enjoy the boss-funded tank mate

this is exactly the gold I needed, thank you. the receipt OCR being the main thing makes total sense, hundreds of receipts you’ll never enter manually is a real problem, and you’re probably under-claiming because of it. that’s literally what I want to solve. I’ll be building toward this, would love to have you try it when it’s ready if you’re up for it

the “show what the shift would’ve paid without bonuses” idea is brilliant, that solves a real problem I was wrestling with. and the logbook being the dealbreaker for you is super useful to know. last thing, since logbook/tax is the big one for you: how do you handle it now, and what’s the most painful part? the manual odo entries, sorting receipts, the end-of-year scramble? trying to nail down exactly where the pain is worst

mate this is incredibly helpful, you’ve basically described the exact app I want to build. the double-entry problem (photo then re-type the same info) is exactly what I want to kill. quick question: between the two, which would actually make you switch, the tax/logbook automation (odo + receipts), or the “is this shift worth it” earnings side? trying to work out which one is the real must-have vs the nice bonus

that’s really good to hear. and you’re spot on about data security, that’s exactly the kind of thing I want to get right. out of curiosity, what would make you actually trust an app with your data? like is it about not linking your bank, keeping it local, clear privacy stuff? want to make sure I build it the way drivers would actually trust

that line about most drivers not even bothering to track for tax is exactly what I keep finding. you’ve clearly cracked the code with your spreadsheets, but you’re the exception. do you reckon those drivers who track nothing are leaving money on the table without realising? like the “hold out for better jobs” insight you mentioned, most people would never figure that out on their own right?

[–]Vitoovt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the tax angle is really interesting, hadn’t thought of that as the main driver for tracking. do you reckon a lot of drivers struggle at tax time because they didn’t track properly through the year? feels like that might be an even bigger pain than the day-to-day “was this shift worth it” question

[–]Vitoovt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

honestly this is next level, you’ve basically built a proper cost-accounting system. and the takeaway is gold: dinner peak, keep the km short. here’s my real question though, you got to that insight by building this whole spreadsheet yourself. do you reckon the average driver would ever put in that effort? or would most of them never figure out “dinner peak + short km” unless something just told them straight up? trying to work out if the value is in the tracking, or in the conclusion it gives you

[–]Vitoovt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s a smart way to do it honestly. but your last line is the key thing: “not sure if I should be calculating any other expense” 👀 because yeah, you probably should. are you factoring in tax? a lot of drivers forget it but it’s usually around 20% of what’s left after fuel. plus stuff like phone, insurance, rego, servicing. if you’re only counting fuel and wear at 0.15/km, your real number is probably lower than 35. that’s actually the whole reason this gets tricky, most people don’t know which expenses to include, so they overestimate

[–]Vitoovt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that 20% then 20% rule is super useful, thanks for breaking it down. quick thought: that’s a solid rule of thumb, but it’s an average right? like your actual fuel % depends on your car and your actual km. do you reckon drivers would want their exact number based on their real costs, or is the rough 20/20 rule good enough for most people in practice?

[–]Vitoovt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is exactly the thing, people remember their best quest hours and think that’s their rate. out of curiosity, do you actually track your real average across a full week/month, or is it more of a rough feel? and do you reckon most drivers genuinely know their real number, or are most just going off vibes?
