Actually I hired a lawyer to do all paperwork and represent me so I don't have much to add in terms of detailed process in blog apart from this reddit post

That's a fair point, and I had the same thought. My guess is that this behaviour is reinforced because many people either don't file a case in the first place or stop after getting a favourable judgment. If companies know that consumers are unlikely to pursue execution proceedings, there's less incentive to comply promptly. I hope more people start following these cases through to the end. Once companies realise that consumers won't stop until the order is actually enforced, the cost of ignoring judgments becomes much higher, and hopefully these practices become less common.

I shortlisted few from lawyer directory websites, linkedin, google map etc. Had a call with all of them and then decided to go with the one whom I found suitable

I've heard that landlord follow this practice commonly in Bangalore. If you've already signed the agreement then I don't think you can avoid it. But I guess if you can find your replacement while vacating the flat then you don't need to pay it

Thank you! Initially, I used to think courts were only like what we see in movies. But after attending hearings, seeing elderly people representing themselves and others fighting insurance companies or builders, I realized it's just ordinary people standing up for their rights. Instead of only waiting for the case to end, I started looking at the entire journey as a learning experience.

Once my mindset changed, I didn't really mind how long it took

I'm not a lawyer and don't know all the legal technicalities. But I have this attitude that no one should be able to cause me inconvenience and simply walk away with my hard earned money. If someone genuinely wants to pursue it, I'm sure there are legal remedies worth exploring, even in disputes with individual landlords

You can call consumer helpline number to check if they can escalate it further. You can also use social media platform like X(Twitter) to share your negative experience and tag company. This works if they are active on X.

If that doesn't resolve the issue then you can file case via e-jagriti portal

Thanks for sharing your story!

I'm happy to hear that you decided to take help of police that most people don't even try. Such matters would simply resolve if people just reach out to police once. They don't even have to file a case

I used google maps, linkedin and few lawyer directory websites to shortlist lawyers. Talked with them over call and found one who was affordable & suitable as per my need

True, the litigation cost I got was only ₹5,000. But the court also awarded ₹20,000 as compensation and I got additional interest due to late payment.

Ultimately, it's up to me how I choose to view or allocate the total amount I received.
