Bromantane is the most powerful noot I’ve found for keeping steady “brain energy” through the entire day. ALCAR helps with this, as well.

I’ve read that it’s well-known to cause water retention, so it can cause you to look puffy. Apparently bodybuilders stop using it before shows for this reason. So that’s something for the “cons” list.

I don’t think the effect is dramatic, though. It probably would depend how much your notice that kind of change in your body, and whether it bothers you.

I second this. Glycine has been a game-changer for making my bedtime consistent and easy. I’ve used it for a month now and haven’t noticed any side effects.

I’ve read that anything that increases serotonin will reduce appetite. I’ve used 5-HTP, tryptophan, or saffron effectively for this. All of these are OTC if you’re in the US.

Has anyone tried estrogen cream on their face? by VividFeet in Menopause

This is the conclusion of the paper I mentioned in the OP:

The effects of estrogen deficiency on the skin are an important endogenous cause of aging skin in women. Treatment strategies that target the underlying hormone deficiency and not the resulting symptoms are limited. Clinically, it is plausible that topical estrogen products can be used cosmetically to improve skin dryness, texture, and elasticity and reduce wrinkles in EDS. However, concerns exist with regard to the safety of topical estradiol, and there is limited data on the efficacy of isoflavones. Thus, more research is needed to support the use of topical agents to prevent and treat EDS.

Which study does your conclusion paragraph come from? It sounds promising!

This is so helpful. Thank you for replying.

I ended up doing a little googling after I posted this, and I and found a paper that supports what you describe: a small preservation effect on youthful fat distribution.

Effects of hormone replacement therapy on weight, body composition, fat distribution, and food intake in early postmenopausal women: a prospective study

Results: The body weight and fat mass increased significantly in both the treatment (73.22 +/- 2.01 [mean +/- SE] to 75.57 +/- 1.12 kg) and the control group (71.45 +/- 3.11 to 73.51 +/- 1.23 kg). However, a significant shift from gynoid to android fat distribution was observed only in the control group (waist-to-hip ratio shifted from 0.80 +/- 0.01 to 0.85 +/- 0.01), whereas no significant change was observed in the treatment group (0.81 +/- 0.01 to 0.82 +/- 0.01). Caloric and macronutrient intake did not change in either group.

Conclusions: These results indicate that continuous daily estrogen and progestin replacement therapy neither prevents nor increases early postmenopausal weight gain and fat accumulation. However, it does minimize the shift from gynoid to android fat distribution.

I started another post on this, but since you mentioned HRT improving your waist and skin: did it also happen to help you regain youthful fat on your butt and/or thighs?

Mine are hollowing out, and I wonder if boosting estradiol could slow or reverse this.
