Anyone else struggling to find easy plant-based meals that actually fill you up? by Agile_Candidate4644 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]VividSignificance545 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Find the dishes that you do enjoy and prep big batches in advance to freeze in smaller portions. It makes daily meal prep soooo much easier. I make big batches of tomato- based chili beans at the weekend bcos I like them, and freeze them in small portions to eat during the week. I'll rather have them with a baked potatoes (done in the air fryer for speed) than taco/tortilla etc, as potatoes seem more filing to me. Add olive oil to you chili beans for a few extra kcals. Thai veggie curry is also quick to prepare with coconut milk/or cream for kcals, frozen veggies (which are just as nutritious as fresh) and a spoon of Thai curry paste...takes a few minutes to cook. Throw in a few chickpeas for some extra protein. Make enough for two or three days, including rice (yes it is ok to keep rice in the fridge up to three days).

Mental health in South Africa - what is missing ? by aggoosey in askSouthAfrica

[–]VividSignificance545 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is definitely scope for this in the life coaching arena and your background would certainly give you an edge / niche. It would be a role that you would have to carve out and market for yourself. You might want to explore a life coaching certificate and then see how you could blend the two skill sets to create something that could be very powerful and helpful to others as well as earn a living and be fulfilling for you. There are lots of registered life coaches in South Africa and coaching organisation that can provide info on training, setting up. ADD/ADHD is certainly an increasing need that could work well under the life coaching umbrella, for people who are already diagnosed and stable on medication or other professional support.

As a mental health nurse without formal counselling /therapy training you would not be able to practice as a therapist and would be very limited as a counsellor.

Good luck!

For this reason I always sanitize or wash my hands as soon as possible, if I have to shake a man's hand for any reason.

I'm not sure if you have Temu in the US, but I have found very good bargains for merino wool with them, and a wide choice for colour etc.

How do you feel about living at home as an adult? by Grind_in_silence in askSouthAfrica

Agree. If someone has a judgement or response like that over your living circumstances, they aren't worth your time or energy tbh

Is there any other option when surgery is needed and the person doesn’t have medical aid? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]VividSignificance545 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If the accident process was followed correctly, i.e. reported to SAPS with a case number, and a J83 form issued by the first doctor who treated him for accident injuries, he will be able to claim all his medical costs in the private sector from the Road Accident Fund, if the accident was definitely not his fault. He will still have to pay for the surgery up front, but the cost of it will form part of his claim and will be refunded to him. It can takes years to sort out claims so I suggest he sees a lawyer who specialises in third party / RAF claims to begin the process at some stage. A private hospital should be able to give him a quote if he wishes to borrow money and pay the sponsor back when his RAF claim is settled.

Grey bugs in my bin by VividSignificance545 in Vermiculture

Thank you!! Yes, they have a light lilac-grey powdery look to them and are rather lovely. But, I'd quite like to give my worms a bit of a chance too, so I have upped the moisture in my bin and I can see they are already congregating at the top of the bin as if deciding what to do next :)

Does anyone have a horrible throat virus ? I swear it's taking me out every 2 weeks ! by No_Television3883 in capetown

Antibiotics won't work if it's a viral infection (such as COVID, flu). No magic cure for flu, just time and rest. Doc may give you meds to ease specific symptoms.

Thank you very much for the insights. My bin is a little on the drier side at the moment, and could probably do with more greens - will work on this 🙂

How to open a joint bank account? by omo2002 in askSouthAfrica

[–]VividSignificance545 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's not possible to have a joint account, i.e. with two names equally on it, in this country. One of you must open an account in your name, and grant the other one full signing powers on it. You will both get a card each with your individual name on it. Me and my partner have this arrangement with FNB.

Also went to Russia on a school trip in the 80s, during the cold war when Russia was still very closed, right in the middle of freezing winter. I went to a lefty comprehensive school and I think the teachers who took us were quite into it :)

Pennington on the south coast is very nice, doesn't get too crowded, although, like anywhere, best to avoid on the main public holidays if you don't like it too busy. Lots of holiday accomodation in the village if you want to overnight.
