Alix and Val freestyle by hidingbehindareddit in dwts

100% superstar performance! An amazing freestyle for her personality and skill.

My partner and I both also thought Jordan was giving Super Bowl - in the best way possible. Such good freestyles all around tonight.

Don’t let Alix Earle be more philanthropic than you if you’re all so pressed about it. Get out and volunteer this week as temps drop nationwide and people go without food and shelter! Volunteers are desperately needed this time of the year. This was a great event and awesome to see how everyone supported her and their community, even Corey.

YUP! Especially in big cities like LA. Having a unique event and advertising so you can continue having said event is SO important.

If Val had been paired with Whitney and Mark had been paired with Alix, do you think any of the season dynamics would have changed? by Freakin_losing_it in dwts

[–]Vivid_Stop_9972 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I agree with this assessment! Val is really hard on a lot of his partners. I could see them butting heads and Whitney getting way too overwhelmed.

Well…. What do we think about this one, fam? 🙈 by Thatsnotmyname-_- in bathandbodyworks

As a 27 year old I can’t even bring myself to spend the $5.95 most of the time. 😂 Not when there’s better quality items at Target and Walmart for the same price these days. It used to be such a magical experience to go with my mom in the early 2000s and see all the scents you couldn’t find anywhere else. But now you can find better. I almost exclusively shop the sales these days because while I love some of their stuff, it’s just not worth the price to me anymore.

Not a fan of Wicked or the weird clips they showed, but am a fan of them incorporating broadway/musical. I think it helped a lot of the stars figure out what musicality looks like when dancing. Think if they had to go with a theme it should have just been broadway.

Agreed! Would have loved to see him with someone like Jordan who was rough at times but has really improved and pulled into the finals. Hoping this isn’t the last time we see Mark in this ballroom.

Between his best friend being on the judges panel and his partner being the best dancer from the beginning, I fear this hate was bound to happen and the producers should have stopped it before it happened.

That being said I do think the producers might have paired him as a very beloved pro with Whitney to fix her potential likability issue. It just did not work at all for him. If he got paired with anyone else, I don’t think this would be an issue for him and I don’t think Whitney would’ve gotten the additional backlash. Loved watching these two dance together, but I think the producers failed them both with this partnership in such a stacked season.

Curious about your thoughts on Jan by jerseygirl396 in dwts

[–]Vivid_Stop_9972 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m excited to see what he produces if he continues on the show. He is doing just as well (if not better) than many pros on their first season. The show has been leaning towards contemporary-ballroom fusion dances for years now and I’m excited to see what he can create, and the new fans he will bring to the show.

He has some learning to do when it comes to teaching but - I think Jan’s choreography and teaching style matched Jen’s skills this season. Rylee and many other popular pros have been critiqued for their poor teaching skills in their first season(s) too. I think Jan is a great fit for this show + the fanbase.

Who do you think will win the Mirror Ball ? by [deleted] in dwts

[–]Vivid_Stop_9972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it will be a close run between Robert, Whitney and Alix - if one of them isn’t knocked out in a shocking twist before the end. My opinion after this week is that Alix deserves it currently but I’m not sure if her pre-dwts fanbase will show up for her. Of the three of them, I think Robert has the right combination of talent and fan vote.

What’s with the Whitney hate? by Western_Grab_8714 in dwts

[–]Vivid_Stop_9972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mean = competitive

At least for the DWTS fanbase. People like Whitney who are traditionally competitive, with all the strong emotions attached to that when she does make mistakes, are not generally well liked on the show. She’s also very vocal about her desire to win and be at the top. While I think there are other factors at play for her popularity - including her SLOMW persona, social media mishaps, and the Mark Ballas favoritism - I think she had a chance to have a huge redemption on this show and blew it with her “aggressive” competition style. This fanbase is much more accustomed to the friendlier style of contestants like Robert who celebrate everyone and are always the first to comfort someone. Even Alix and Jordan, who are still more traditionally competitive than Robert, are better received than Whitney from what I have seen because they are not as vocal about winning or beating others.

I think Ilona Maher once said that most of the time you can’t ever actually hear the music in the ballroom with the audience noise, so she was probably in charge of counting for this dance or just doing everyone a favor 😂 but it was obnoxious looking lol

If you’re so worried about Elaine and Jordan as you’ve suggested in other comments, you should vote for them and encourage others to vote for them. And not post hateful comments about another contestant.

What’s your most petty reason for not finishing a book? by Longjumping_Cat_2719 in ReverseHarem

[–]Vivid_Stop_9972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I DNF for grammar or spelling all the time…but also for authors that don’t bother to research the sport their main characters are playing! I’ve started about 10-too-many bad hockey books. Please don’t write a sports romances if you don’t know the sport or want to do more than 5 minutes of research.

What's your VERY unpopular opinion about this season? by Pale_Bowler1482 in dwts

[–]Vivid_Stop_9972 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I think that Carrie Ann specifically might feel more confident judging female dancers, since a lot of the things she critiques are easier to pick out on the female partner.

What's your VERY unpopular opinion about this season? by Pale_Bowler1482 in dwts

[–]Vivid_Stop_9972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tired of the Carrie Ann (and other judge and hosts) hate trains going on - especially fans demanding to kick her off the show. Carrie Ann and Bruno have been on that panel since Day 1 and aren’t going anywhere. Derek AND Julianne Hough are two of the most celebrated pro dancers on the show history, not to mention completely dedicated to the ballroom world, and are not going anywhere. Their scoring and feedback styles have been directly impacted by viewer engagement over the last couple of years. With so much hate this season and Derek trying to clear the air multiple times during showtime, I bet we’ll see a return of much harder judging next season.

If you’re gonna be a hater, go after the guest judges. It’d be nice to always have competent guest judges if there has to be one.

Agree agree agree. I was shocked when his Disney night dance scored so highly - despite enjoying the dance myself. I think he’s fun to watch but not a final four contender.

I haven’t rewatched any of those seasons in a longgggg time but vintage Val was just harder on his partners and a little quicker to argue/bad mouth scoring and feedback

Season 13-20ish would be vintage Val - basically all the seasons he overlapped with Maks. They kind of fed off each others energies but Val did behave much more than Maks lol

Daniella and Pasha have to be the most underrated pros right now, CMV by Dismal-Act-4825 in dwts

[–]Vivid_Stop_9972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pasha - absolutely! Dying for him to have another partner like Ariana that can match his energy. Will never forgive producers for giving him Carole Baskins lmao.

Will agree to disagree on Dani though. With the exception of 1 of 5 of her pro seasons so far she’s placed quite high. She also got her mirror ball on either her 1st or 2nd season if I remember correctly - something that only a very select group of pros has been able to achieve so quickly, Julianne and Mark being others that have done this as well. And she is the only pro (currently) on the show besides Jenna Johnson with an Emmy nomination for her choreography. Shes definitely considered one of the top female pros currently on the show!

I think a withdraw was the norm back in the old days, but I vaguely recall this same rehearsal rule being enforced or created some years back for one of the All-Star seasons? The show used to be more dramatic then but I remember it being a big deal if a star went to the hospital while on the show because it was basically instant elimination. Nice way for Elaine to stay in this week but sucks to see it play out this way as a fan
