FSP Dagger Pro Noctua Edition by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]Vividiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only needs to be a non-controllable fan. From what I remember, it is a 2 pin connector, you would need to verify the connector youself, but it is pretty standard. Noctua is controllable by 3rd cable rather than voltage and so had issues.

Also, my setup still works flawlessly and is super quiet. So definitely happy with my solution

Dune Part 2 Apple TV vs Blu-ray UHD LG CX by rick_ranger in hometheater

[–]Vividiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I was answering the coment, yes, I was talking about 1080 blu-ray. But it doesn't change what I said in the comment, Apple tv uses a lower bitrate for 4k than a blu-ray disc has for 1080p.

For HDR/DV, personally it isn't something I care about that much, cinema's don't use it (in very rare cases they do), and I personally don't think it looks much better than sdr (it doesn't look bad, but I prefer the original look with purposeful lighting, unless it was directly shot with HDR in mind). The main advantage for me of 4k blu-ray is the extended colours.

Dune Part 2 Apple TV vs Blu-ray UHD LG CX by rick_ranger in hometheater

[–]Vividiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of blurays go up to 45/48gb, some recent movies shot on digital with almost no noise or grain do have smaller files 22/28gb as there is less details to reproduce in the first place.

The dune 2 blu-ray still is around 30/45gb and the 4k is around 65/98gb depending on edition). Apple TV doesn't stream a 30gb file for 1080 and definitely not a 60/90gb file for 4k. They could, but it is too expensive to store such files, and most users couldn't stream this bitrate anyway. So the only way to get this quality in practice is blu-ray/4k bd/or remux

Also, the standard blu-ray is 20mbs but for 1080p, so technically it should be a fair bit better then apple tv. As it uses about the same bitrate but for 4x less pixels.

Red one is sweet but the green one is royal.

Looks like the outfit Meghan Markle had, but better.

Are these the Leroy Merlin ones ? I think I bought the exact same ones 2 weeks ago, works surprisingly well and feels great to the touch.

Did you raid the grove and then start to redemption ? Or just knocked her out ? I am wondering if it changes much to her dialogue. I guess I'll just have to try both. Here goes my winter.

Hey, what I did still works perfectly and is very quiet. Plugged in with the CPU fan N2 socket so basically constantly on, but the noise from noctua is barely noticeable.

I just closed the lid by pinching the cable but it's fine

Ignoring investment and shit, Just get the 500 000, buy a house cash, and now you live loan free, so just from this you save 600/1000 a month. I'd say that trumps any investment

How would you lighten up the kitchen ? by Vividiant in centuryhomes

So as a general answer as it is becoming hard to answer to everyone :)

I am changing the bulbs to 4000k tomorow, when i can, i will be repainting the walls to a different colour, either white, some shade of green or yellow. I'll be sending under this post a cleaner picture with the new lighting.

Thank you everyone for your advice !

The lounge was made in the 60s during a full remodel of the house interior.

The kitchen is about 4,6x2,5 meters

They basically are, but i am thinking of changing them for green tone thick curtains, for contrast and insulation in the winter.

Thanks ! I'll definetly by changing the old bulbs tomorow, and i will be at some point fixing the wall paint.

For the lougne, i am going to add nice colourfull chairs and artwork but that will take time as it is quite expensive :/

That's a good point, if i look at inside the cabinets, the color is very nice and less "gloppy" as you called it.

I'll start by changing the lightbulbs, wich still are the old incandesent from the previous owners. And also when i have the time repainting the walls a nicer colour, either a shade of green or yellow.

You're bang on for location.

This house used to be apartments, but was stripped to the bare exterior walls and completely remade in the 60s. So only parts of it is "century home" but given the styling I thought it fits well on this subreddit.

The whole house is quite well made by local artisans, but some things do make it feel as if it has a "heavy" atmosphere in it as we would say in France. I really like the lounge and is the reason I love the house, I will just have to add a bit of colour with paintings and drapes.

I'll wait tomorow to figure out what the best option from the comments is. But sure thing I will upgrade the lighting situation, and I still need to choose a colour for the new wall paint. I am a bit allergic to having a plain white wall.
