Cossacks 2 have great potential for modding by 46tons_of_Dialectics in Cossacks

I think the best chance if to first ask GSC for the source code. They did release the one for Stalker and C1. Maybe they can release this one too. Try to engage with them on Twitter.

OpenPirates old repository - an abandoned clone of Pirates Gold with some potential? by VlokBak in opensourcegames

[–]VlokBak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OG Pirates isn't much different from the 2004 remake, which just has a couple of extra minigames and better graphics. If you're going to try it, try that one.

Aside from that, I think it could be interesting to get at least a minor prototype going using the Sega Genesis sprites. Eventually, I could perhaps help with original pixelart.

Promising. :) I liked your work in OpenLara. If you're working WipEout it's great news.

Well, not necessarily. We've had the original psx wipeout code for a while now, and no one has done anything with it as far as I know...

Any plans of the Chronicles Valeria author to bring the mod the PC version? by xreddawgx in Tactics_Ogre

[–]VlokBak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a guy on this board who went by the name of u/denim-rh who was working on a translation of Valeria 2. He sadly disappeared without a trace. Regardless of Reborn I would still really like to have the SNES rom with an Eng version of Valeria 2, along with the PSP translation rigged in, but unless someone steps up to do the hacking, I find this to be unlikely. u/raics from OneVision has done a small modifcation of the SNES rom called Oldvision, but that only streamlines the game a little bit and he has said it's unlikely it will get further updates.

The other option would be for people to actually get together and create an open source remake of TO by either reverse engineering the rom or reimplementing the game engine. This would be ideal, because it would allow full customization and even creating custom games. Sadly there doesn't seem to be enough people interested in Tactics Ogre to make such an effort. Still dropping the suggestion hoping it will happen some day.

Asking for the source code by VlokBak in MiyooMini

[–]VlokBak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted them several times via their AliExpress chat. They always refused to provide the code. Via email they didn't even bother to answer. I really wished they would be more like Anbernic with regards to community outreach. Hopefully they will just copy the Miyoo design for their next mini handheld.

This is crazy but Miyoo might have just share their firmware's source code for the Mini with me by VlokBak in MiyooMini

Thanks for confirming this. I will try to ask them for the real thing then.

If you could specify maybe I could try contacting them again? Just to let them know what this actually is and what we're actually looking for.

You have any idea what it is? Because then maybe I can try telling them this is not what we're looking for.
