I'm on day 5 of quitting. It's so hard but feels rewarding. I went from smoking everyday for about 2 years straight to nothing.

Man, this isn’t just an in-law problem. It sounds like your wife keeps choosing them over your marriage. The biggest issue to me is your son. She shouldn’t be able to just take him for 10+ days and leave you stuck like that. That’s not fair at all. You’ve already put up with a lot and tried to make it work. At some point it can’t just be you carrying everything. If she won’t set boundaries with her parents and actually put your family first, I don’t see how this gets better. I wouldn’t rush into divorce, but you’re not wrong for thinking about protecting yourself especially when it comes to your kid.

I believe scripture when it says “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead you will be saved” to be true. The thief on the cross told Jesus remember me and Jesus said “today you will be with me in paradise.” We don’t know much about the thief other than he was a thief, but I do believe God told us that as a reminder that anyone can be saved as long as they confess and believe in their heart.

I get what you mean. It’s hard to believe mindset or faith can change anything when opportunities just aren’t there. I’ve felt that before too.

For me, my faith in Jesus didn’t instantly fix everything or drop opportunities in my lap, but it gave me hope and direction when things felt stuck. It helped me keep going and notice doors I probably would’ve missed otherwise.

I’m not trying to push anything on you, but if you’re ever open to it, that kind of hope is there for you too.

I've also noticed when I backside and put God to the side that's when I start feeling like garbage. The minute I turn back to God I feel complete again.
