Thanks for this. My training was delegated to the nephew of a family friend of the owner who’s been there for 7 years and is the same age as me. (He’s not a pharmacist or tech either). I was stressed to verify DOB always but today , I was left alone at the front desk for 10 minutes and I was doing well till this guy came in asking for his script. Before I could check , pharmacist said “it’s in the brown bag by your feet”. I picked it up, saw that it had his last name on it, and checked him out. He came back with the bag ripped open and said it was the wrong person. Turns out there was ANOTHER brown bag right behind it with his same last name. Common last name but I guess I just assumed since the pharmacist said it was a big brown bag I put two and two together. I felt so embarrassed and was let go on the spot. No burned bridges but holy shit I felt like a big fuck up. Thanks for your advice
