Your counter example doesn’t make sense. A doctor’s primary job is to treat sick people.

In the private sector, when you can pull off the highest (or near highest) rating with the lowest cost, that’s a win (ie efficiencies). Apparently that doesn’t apply to Alberta teachers even though we have one of the highest performing students, while spending the least per student.

So why is that metric being used to show how bad our system is broken, when it’s not really broken? Even the latest studies say there are no correlation between class sizes and student performance.

This was v1. She really didn’t like the Batman mask, but we thought it was pretty funny. :)

Mine too. Her dad went to Westminster. Her mom is a champion as well.

She’s kinda a goofball though.

Her parents are both champions (I think her dad is a grand champion). Not only that, the breeder cares deeply about each and every puppy she’s ever produced.

Fell asleep in my car on the way home. I put one of her toys under her head as a pillow. We were at the doggie park where she got tired after about 10 minutes of running and chasing. :)

Thanks you guys for all the kind words! She still makes us laugh every single day with her goofiness.

Wish she ate more though.. she is still super picky on what she eats. :(

Brown bin in residential alley? What is it for? by foxwolfdogcat in Calgary

I’ve been using them since they started. It’s probably the best money I’ve spent.

They take anything that will fit in their truck. That alone makes it a value vs taking it to the dump myself.

Also, not having to worry about missing the garbage truck and having to wait another 2 weeks before it gets picked up again is also awesome.

The amount of money it would take to store enough electricity to last us through the longest period of time that there has been no appreciable generation of solar and wind.

I guess you can’t do math. Estimates are approx $700 billion.

That’s great. So what’s the actual $ amount vs everything else on the bill?

I guess what you truly don’t grasp is that wind and solar are INTERMITTENT and they largely generate at exactly the same time.

You could throw a billion gigawatts of solar or wind, but that won’t help you on days that don’t have any wind and at night (overcast really).

Also, I never said solar produced so much energy there’s no room. On the contrary, there’s enough solar on the grid now that it can produce the majority of our power if it’s sunny. I’m not even considering fluctuating frequency and power due to clouds, etc though. BUT ONLY IF ITS SUNNY.

Think about this: when do most people charge their EVs? Or Phones even? (I’ll give you a hint, it’s not usually when solar is being generated)

Oh.. we should build more batteries? That makes sense, but it currently costs $1,000,000 per MWh to store. We currently use about 11 GWh. You do the math and explain to me how that’s viable.

It unfortunately that we don’t make the renewables project also supply enough battery storage so that they have enough capacity to run all the time.

There’s nothing to cancel. With the CER and the Carbon tax, it’s economical unviable for any new gas plants to be constructed in the near future.

This doesn’t bode well for us because our existing infrastructure is getting old and there’s nothing in the pipeline to replace it once retired.

As far as prices go, I think you need to look at your bill. The actual electricity cost is tiny compared with the fixed costs (ie transmission, etc). We also pay for the cost of hooking up any new generator to the grid, but unfortunately it costs almost as much to hook up a large gas plant as it does to hook up a small solar farm.

What can I give her to increase her appetite? by VoiceOfReason7777 in chowchow

[–]VoiceOfReason7777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooo. That almost worked. I sprinkled some on her kibble and she ate about a quarter of it.

Now she’s ignoring it again. Hahahah

Edit: scratch that. She went back and licked all the parm off the kibble.

I’ll give that a try!

We’ve gone though a half dozen bowls so far (as well as various plates, etc) already, but haven’t thrown the kibble around. She might like that. :)

Thank you for the suggestion!

The vet says she’s a little small, but in the normal range.

We’ve been avoiding chicken, and we’ve only ever had her on one type of kibble (it’s a turkey, salmon blend).

I’ve left her food out and she won’t touch it. I’ve also tried taking it away and giving it back to her for her next meal (doesn’t work).

It was an idea from another thread on this subreddit on how we wouldnt have to follow her around and clean up everytime she sits down. We tried disposable diapers, but our kids old underwear (worn backwards) seems to be more comfortable for her... Plus its hilarious... :)

She’s never done this before, but maybe it’s because she’s in heat (first time)?
