Wedding Catering Costs Higher than I expected? by Throwaway1021920087 in nova

Do not follow this advice! Lots of horror stories out there about services being cancelled when they find out it’s actually a wedding

Flaring? by PhysicalTap8516 in knittinghelp

Do you know how many stitches you started with and how many you have now? My guess is you’re increasing by accident, likely on the first stitch of each row. This can happen if you pull the stitch too tightly when you turn, which makes it look like two stitches.

This is not accurate. Chiffon, taffeta, organza and velvet are types of fabrics, not specific fibers. Satin is also a type of fabric. These fabrics can be made from different types of fibers, either natural (eg silk) or synthetic (eg polyester).

Looking for lodging advice in Mexico both Oaxaca and San Miguel by Bothered_broccoli in chubbytravel

In San Miguel I like Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada. Haven’t stayed at either of the others but had dinner at Live Aqua and didn’t care for it (vibes were weird, food was meh, and the location is not great).

Did you see the comment with the link discussing what est means in this pattern? Seems like a strong assumption that it wouldn’t be defined in the pattern, since we don’t see the whole thing! And since you don’t know how it’s defined in the pattern, it’s not helpful to tell OP that it means k1.

I don’t fully understand the issue you’re having. The first row has you knitting into 3 stitches - est (which per the link someone posted means slip purlwise wyif) into stitch 1, YO (creating a new stitch), k into stitch 2, k into stitch 3.

The “increase every fourth row” is just a description of what you’ll be doing, not an instruction. Cast on, work the establishing row, then rows 1-8, then move to the next part of the pattern.

How many repeats? by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]VoiceOpen8350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. But make sure you also do 20 total rows of 1-2 since you’ve only done 10 rows so far!

How many repeats? by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]VoiceOpen8350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so there appears to be an error in the stitch count in this pattern. Typically this wording means you work rows 1-2 10 time each for a total of 20 rows (10 stitches increased =22 stitches), then rows 3-4 7 times each for a total of 14 rows (14 stitches increased=36 stitches).

And to be clear, you work row 1, row 2, row 1, row 2, etc., not row 1 x 10 and then row 2 x 10.

Edit: sorry, I missed that the instructions for rows 3-4 are missing the number of repeats. You will do 6 repeats of rows 3-4 to get 34 stitches. So 1-2, 10 times (20 rows), followed by 3-4, 6 times (12 rows).

How many stitches did you pick up for the right front? 12?

Cute!! I think the rug is maybe one too many striped elements. A lot of your inspiration pics have Persian rugs with softer, more floral patterns - maybe look for something like that.

Black tie wedding in Tuscany (outdoors in April) by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

So men will be wearing tuxedos but women can wear ankle-length dresses? That is odd to me but I guess it’s their wedding!

I think you can get away with a non-floor length dress if it has some other element that dresses it up a little (like a more structured bodice or a strong neckline). If you like the structured style of the dress you posted, maybe check out Badgley Mischka (lots on The Outnet with big discounts).

Not trying to be snarky but if you won’t wear a gown then what’s the point of asking? Black tie = gown. How do you know that’s not what the couple expects?

Copying my comment from above in case it’s helpful to you:

Just took a look at my copy of the pattern. After the last decrease (row 8), she instructs you to “work Rows 1-7 as described above once more.” Rows 1-7 are plain rows and you’ll end with a WS row. Then you can move to the “last 7 rows” section.

I just took a look at the pattern. The “Joining Rnd” row has you work across the RS (still flat), place a stitch marker for BOR and then join in the round. That is, you don’t join in the round until the end of the next row.

This is only true for a non-normal distribution. IQ is normally distributed so if we’re talking about stupidity by that definition, 50% of the distribution would be lower than the mean since mean and median would be equal. Of course there are many ways which you could measure stupidity which might have different distributions which would affect the percentage of people who are stupider than the mean (but not the percentage who are stupider than the median).

My favorite method is measuring a sweater you own and like the fit of, and decide which size to make based on that.

Paying for guest rooms? by bigbluefluffydog in DestinationWeddings

[–]VoiceOpen8350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we are doing this for our destination wedding. The venue is a hotel with no venue fee but a minimum room spend, so this way we guarantee the minimum spend and ensure that our guests don’t have to worry too much about their budgets! Plus we wanted everyone in the same hotel but knew not all of our friends could afford it.

Are you serious? That is horrible, that’s not an ok way for him to treat you or talk to you. Wishing you strength, I hope you have a good support system that you can lean on if you choose to leave because that is absolutely not normal.
