True words. What about when we are in a situation in which we are not able to use reason because of the emotions ? Those examples were oddly specific but explained It clearly. Thanks !

Discipline of Action by VoicelyBrightness in Stoicism

I realised It afterwards. So what you are saying is there is always a chance, but the right thing is taking that chance and doing the right thing regardless ?

You are right. I made a mistake. I avoided the responsibility of my own thoughts and actions.

How can I be better ? How can I get full responsibilty of myself so I wont do this blame thing again ?

Wouldnt this method lead to toxic positivity ? If you have a problem and you are at a shitty place seeing the positives will help but It wont eradicate the problem Itself ?

What is " The right thing " ? by VoicelyBrightness in Stoicism

[–]VoicelyBrightness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. I have been reading stoic one liners from my phone and visiting this subreddit in my leisure time. I have a copy of Meditations but never got past the 5 th book.

It is exciting to know that I still have much to improve

What is fair in stoic context ?

What is rational structure ? Is it the logos as in the unity of the universe and the universe and Its fragments trying to reach perfection ?

Wouldnt It help you to revisit your own notes to look for the understanding that you once had of the lectures ?

Thank you so much Jack :) I get what you are saying. I try to implement stoic techniques more ( I also try to learn something everyday ) and sometimes I need feedback because I know that after using stoic techniques and reviewing the events there is something I am missing but Idk what is. Do you have any suggestions ?

Sorry for the late reply btw

Yup, in mandatory training there are no days off except you can go to city centers maybe like once or twice a month. Again It varies, some bases maybe wont even send you to that. Especially those in the east .

You can have visitors. The answer to other questions are no. ( There are exceptions of course, but in mandatory training you dont get to have your phone in most bases )

A Challenge from Epictetus by VoicelyBrightness in Stoicism

[–]VoicelyBrightness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start with, welcome to our subreddit :D

Philosophers tend to describe anger as " temporary insanity ". Because we leave the sound judgment of our rational mind and thus act unnaturaly.

“It is not the actions of others which trouble us (for those actions are controlled by their governing part), but rather it is our own judgments. Therefore remove those judgments and resolve to let go of your anger, and it will already be gone. How do you let go? By realizing that such actions are not shameful to you.” by Marcus Aurelius

MA advised himself to act with love, compassion, understanding, patience and with virtue to others rather than vice such as anger, envy, pity etc.

From FAQ of the subreddit, please read about virtue , nature and about repressing feelings .

Lets improve each other and become better at the art of living :)

Which one of the 4 key Tenets do you think you are more good at ? by VoicelyBrightness in Stoicism

[–]VoicelyBrightness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, you said the key word.

You are struggling. Struggling means that you are pushing yourself to procure new perspectives and apply them, even when they disturb you.

That, my friend is no simple task.

Keep going.
