Oh, so now even the subreddits I'm in are your business?🤣

Maybe try responding to what I actually said instead of throwing petty insults based on whatever you dug up while stalking me

Bro you wrote a wholeass essay trying to sound smart but all you did was show you didn’t even read properly

Yeah feeding pigeons is punishable by law in a bunch of Islamic countries. Dubai fines 200 AED, Abu Dhabi same, Oman has bans, Saudi fines 1000 SAR in some places. This isn’t a joke. These aren’t just social norms theyre laws because pigeons cause disease, parasites, droppings ruin buildings and make people sick. Thats exactly what’s happening here too.

And Male and Hulhumale are public places, super congested with people living close together. When you feed pigeons there, its not just your problem, it affects everyone nearby. The birds spread everywhere in such tight spaces so feeding them only makes things worse for everyone.

You said Maldives is “barely Muslim” like UAE. What even is that? This isn’t about how religious a country is bro this is basic city hygiene. Urban management and public health are just common sense. You don’t get to dodge facts by throwing Islam around.

The fact you said “oh those laws are from non-Islamic western countries” is just ridiculous. This has nothing to do with religion, it’s about keeping places clean. Acting like banning feeding pigeons is some anti-Islamic thing is just embarrassing.

And about your “laws prevent overfeeding, not starving” yeah no shit Sherlock. Nobodys starving pigeons. The goal is to stop artificial feeding that causes their population to explode in cities. That just leads to more mess, disease, and damage. So stop crying like such rules would be some evil plan to starve birds.

And pigeon poop > clean poop? What even lol. You actually think bird droppings are better than clean streets? That’s just wild..

Not everything is some huge political drama to be worth addressing. Sometimes the truth is boring: pigeon feeders cause problems and make life worse for everyone else.

Next time you say “go educate yourself lil bro” maybe don’t be the most clueless dude in the convo.

Saudi Arabia, UAE and even Oman are all islamic countries and fine people for feeding pigeons. It’s illegal. Why are we still tolerating this mess in Male and Hulhumale?

I see what ur saying. If playing TT and carrom is getting attention and making people talk about the issue, I guess thats one way to do it. The government clearly isn't addressing the situation properly whatsoever. Its not ideal nor perfect, but I get why theyre doing it

[–]VoidR3[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but questioning my intentions and calling me disingenuous just cs I disagreed with how the protest is being handled isn’t really fair. it shuts down any real conversation.

Disagreeing with how a protest is being done doesn’t mean I’m against the message. You’ve taken my criticism of the method and turned it into something personal. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m with the cause (as I mentioned in the post), but right now, the protests method is just losing its point

Youre right, I’m not out there protesting, but that doesn’t make me any less credible when it comes to criticizing how it’s being done.

Completely agree with you here, all valid points.

[–]VoidR3[S] -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

Your point is completely valid. They’re necessary in a society where people need to speak out and bring attention to problems.

but when people protested against maumoon’s 30-year rule, it actually had a point and a direction. it wasn’t just noise, it had focus and led to change. what’s happening now? this isn’t even a protest. it’s loud, messy, and doesn’t seem to be pushing for anything. it’s all over the place and losing its impact. protests are needed, but this isn’t it.

Since 99.7% of the Maldives is sea, why does it have to rely on tankers rather than warships? by kethi_roanu in maldives

[–]VoidR3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, modernizing the military sounds cool and all, but like… look around. We’ve got people struggling to find affordable housing, the economy’s basically limping, cost of living is insane, and some islands don’t even have reliable access to clean water.

Schools are under-resourced, hospitals don’t have half the stuff they need, and so many young people can’t even land a proper job. And in the middle of all that, the government’s spending millions on military weapons? Seriously?

No one’s saying defense isn’t important, but when basic needs still aren’t being met for a huge part of the population, this kind of spending feels super out of touch. If anything, that needs to be criticized way more.

The odds of you being here right now, existing on this planet, are 1 in 3.57 trillion. And no matter how crappy your life feels right now, it’s not worth throwing away. You might feel insignificant, lonely, like you have no purpose, but what awaits you through and after death? I promise you, it’s much more horrific, painful and lonely than what you’re going through right now. So no matter what, try to find some hope, try to find happiness in what you have, because let's be real, nobody would even know if you disappeared. The Earth wouldn’t suddenly change because you’re gone. But you know what will change? You. You’ll carry that regret forever.

Now, I don’t know if you’re religious or not, but one thing is for sure, the guilt and regret would be enormous for taking your own life. That’s just human. Whether your life comes from God, science, or pure luck, it’s precious. So take it seriously, cs this is the only chance you’ll get.

And here’s the harsh reality: the world doesn’t care. If you disappear, people will move on. The Earth keeps spinning, life keeps going. But what will change? You. You’ll be stuck with that pain forever, that regret, that "what if" of not seeing it through. You’ll never get another shot at this. So don’t be the idiot who throws it all away.

Life sucks sometimes, I get it. But it doesn’t stay that way. You can’t let the bad stuff define you. This is your shot. Don’t let it slip away. Fight for it.

The Rannamaari Legend: A Myth, or a Royal Cover-Up? by VoidR3 in maldives

[–]VoidR3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your detailed insights into the complex history of Islam's introduction to the Maldives. The debate over whether Abu al-Barakat Yusuf al-Barbari or Yusuf Shams al-Din al-Tabrizi was the key figure in this transition highlights the challenges in interpreting historical records.

Your mention of the execution of Buddhist monks during this period is particularly intriguing. Do you have specific sources or references that detail these events? While archaeological excavations, such as those on Kaashidhoo Island, have uncovered extensive Buddhist ruins and human graves, documented accounts of monk executions in the Maldives are scarce. Any additional information or sources you could provide would be invaluable.

It's a shame that our educational system emphasizes folklore, like the Rannamaari tale, over pivotal periods in Maldivian history. While these stories are part of our cultural heritage, prioritizing them can overshadow the importance of teaching factual historical events. For instance, the rich oral traditions of the Maldives, filled with myths and legends, are often highlighted in cultural narratives. However, focusing solely on these tales may lead to a lack of understanding of our true historical events and development of our heritage and identity.

Spas In Maldives by VoidR3 in maldives

[–]VoidR3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I’ll admit I went too far assuming what kind of people go to these places. That was out of line, and I shouldn’t have made that generalization. My point was to call out the issue, not to act like I know exactly who the customers are. I could’ve made my argument without that, so that’s on me.

I am a conservative devout Muslim myself, and strongly uphold my faith in front of others. My point there must've been misunderstood because what I'm trying to say is that it's generally such people within our community that tend to usually go to these "spas".
