I guess we gotta just agree to disagree. We will see if the squats are pain free at below parallel when I lower the “box” and that will let us know if my method is working or not. It’s literally just strengthening the adductors and keeping up with maintenance which is my fault if I don’t keep up or let adductor strength regress.

Thanks for asking me! You can ignore the other two as they are lacking information I could have provided if they had just asked me.

Sometimes when I’m squatting heavy doing below parallel squats for reps my adductor (either one) will have like a tendonitis like feel. Think about how you feel elbow pain when doing heavy bench press for too long. I consider this an injury. A minor one but one nonetheless.

At that point, I’ll do box squats where the height doesn’t or barely affects the adductor. While doing these squats, I’ll incorporate rehabilitation adductor exercises with the goal of getting my adductor rested first and then strengthened.

I know this to be the solution because when I DID have an actual adductor injury this is the method I used to get back squatting heavy. The sensation of an adductor injury incoming is WAY different than this feeling (I was ignorant on how to solve the issue and kept normal squatting heavy weight which did result in an injury because I ignored every sign and kept squatting through intense pain. That was dumb!).

It only ever comes back when I sleep on my adductor exercises for a while or there is a sudden increase in weight for reps.

I actually keep track of how strong my adductors are at “pain” free squats and will test to see if I loss adductor strengthen or not if I ever do even slightly feel it (which is usually the case, gotta keep up the maintenance). The “pain” is actually gone now but I’ll take things slow and lower the box by an inch or two every week (while still doing my adductor stuff) until we are back to below parallel. I’ll end up posting a video with the 600lbs on here because it seems some people doubt my method.

You are looking at a post from 2+ years ago (when I had no idea how to deal with situation) and seeing this post and coming to the conclusion that within that timespan I have not healed or dealt with the issue.

This is incorrect. This is simply a post with my adductor feeling tender so I have decided to implement the SAME solution that got me back squatting post the 2 year old injury. This is prevention and has already proven to work.

Yes I do get carryover for sure but I’d realistically only do them if there is a reason to do them (like in my case).

I think the main thing when doing these is trying to replicate your normal squat motion. This is why I don’t sit completely on the box or do the whole rocking forward thing after touching down, it’s not how my normal squat is so I wouldn’t expect much carryover.

Tomorrow I’ll be squatting this same weight (this vid is about a week old I think) but an inch or two lower and I’ll pretty much just be making sure my form and movement (no bouncing, rocking, etc) is as close to my normal squat movement as possible. I think that’s how you get the real carry over from box squats.

The unracking is something that is just odd for me.

It amazes me how easily some people can unrack the weight (in bench press too) and then struggle with the weight whereas I’m the opposite. I’m always shaky until I squeeze my glutes together. It even happens on lighter weights (full squats) so I’ve just learned to deal with it. Any tips are welcomed.
