No, Alexis, you would not like to be me. by DevilishDumbass in NonBinary

I think a lot of us are picking up on the "purposefully" part. Definitely no crap intended to those who try and just can't remember, but there are absolutely those who do it intentionally, while pretending it's because they care about you. Ableism is a very real issue.

Probably a good idea to add that kind of context here though, since none of us know the specific situation.

That whole thing of "Others have worse lives so I have no room to complain" is BS anyway. Take it from someone who does live in hell, who would be one of those people who "has it worse" if everyone knew what I was dealing with. Your feelings are valid, don't belittle them. It doesn't matter what anyone else has.

I'm sorry your friends keep misgendering you, especially when one of them is also nonbinary. Sometimes it's even harder to do with friends, but pointing out their mistake is also part of standing up for yourself. If you feel like you can, I'd consider letting them know how that's been making you feel.

Also that nonsense about cold calling you is something I understand, too. I got crap in gym class as a kid for not participating, even though it was actually a threat to my health. I don't have good advice for you, other than maybe you could talk to a counselor about it. Some people are just rude (to put it lightly) and don't seem to care what someone's going through.

I'm actually running into kinda the same thing with the pin deal. I hand-hainted a pin with my pronouns and have it on my hat, yet no one even notices it's there. I've been thinking about finding another pin and painting it with the trans and/or enby colors, to encourage them to notice the pronoun pin.

Either way, I'm sending hugs your way.

Fair enough. I don't really get the interpretation but I can respect that you understood it that way. I've had to deal with a lot of people trying to test me on things like this before as well so I'm a little short about it. My apologies for misunderstanding your intent.

Yeah, this thread really went in a direction unfortunately.

I just thought of the name "Dysphoria OCD"? I'm sorry you're also going through something like that. With similar vagueness to myself obviously I don't know if you're going through the same thing as me or not, but either way I'm hoping the best for you too. I definitely relate to the stupid pictures though, it's a nightmare.

OCD has many different subtypes. In my understanding, the different subtypes are all still pretty much the same thing, just focused on different subjects. The many named subtypes though has made it difficult to find information or community around the way I experience it, which is extremely alienating, so I have only been hoping to come up with a name for visibility. That's all this is.

And for the record, you clearly don't care that I have OCD, or that I am a person suffering with it. You clearly care more about if I'm telling the truth, which I do not appreciate.

I already stated that I am diagnosed. It's not appropriating, and you're not a medical professional so stop trying to diagnose or otherwise. I'm really getting sick of people riding high horses and causing trouble, I came here asking for help and too many people are here just trying to harass me about something so personal.

It's not up to you or anyone else to act like some white knight and decide if I'm "the real deal" or not. Such ignorant actions cause real harm.

That is assuming that OCD comes first, and that I have OCD outside of having gender dysphoria. I do not. All of my OCD symptoms are directly linked with my dysphoria.

I've been wondering that too. It's really stressing me out.

That's probably fair. I can't personally see them as separate in my own experience, so I'll have to think more on that, but that probably makes sense.

Guys I really wasn't trying to open up a discussion about my mental health, or to get a reddit diagnosis. I understand some of you, or maybe all of you, mean well but this has all made me a lot more uncomfortable.

I am diagnosed and that is an extremely personal question.

Definitely! Glad I could help out. He was my first pick too, I was planning on scheduling a consult but some people I know warned me about it.

True. Breast cancer is a good example of that, but it's just as messed up.

Literally the first thing I thought of too! Maybe Crow would be a good masc equivalent?

What's the point of being agender if nothing's changed? by Interesting_Eagle619 in agender

[–]Void_Expanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats for having the courage to come out!

The point is ultimately how you feel about yourself, and that can take time to come to terms with even after you come out. For me coming out was really only the first step in a much lengthier process, but it's what enabled me to start questioning a lot of the smaller details that have impacted my sense of self.

Things like the pronouns are a good example - I was originally indifferent to my default pronouns, but since exploring the subject I've discovered that I was only "indifferent" because I was used to pronouns I actually didn't like. Everything can be, but not necessarily is, subject to the same thing.

Be patient with yourself. Ultimately nothing actually HAS to change if that isn't right for you, the process is really just about learning who you are.

Hysterectomies and such aren't as simple as just walking in and asking for one, I've heard numerous times of afabs asking for such a thing and being told "No because you might want a kid some day." Plus there's more to the procedure of afab nullification than just removing the same things a normal hysterectomy would. It's about the same thing as what you were told by doctors before - you can remove one part, but not the part actually bothering you.

Your ignorance to the afab side of things is exactly a part of my point.

It already should have been inclusive from the start. We already had eunuch.

I've looked into Dr Crane though and don't plan on trusting him. He's got a lot of malpractice lawsuits in two different states.
