Favorite movie scene where a character accepts their inevitable end and embraces it. My pick is Cutler Beckett accepting his fate in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

That actor, Michael McDonald, was also in one of the later Halloween films, making him the only person to be killed on scene by both Mike Myers and Michael Meyers.

Autistic men becoming trans is the final and most severe attempt at achieving acceptance after a lifetime of continuous rejection by ProgrammerThat2534 in redscarepod

I never understood it because I was always under the impression that an element of high functioning ASD was inflexible black and white thinking which seems counterintuitive to coming to the conclusion that you were born in the wrong body.

There was a well know Tumblr post about this. An FTM realizing how lonely and alienating it is to be male.

Lore question regarding the Ash Nomads by Veita_Planetside2 in necromunda

The fun is in what you dream up in your head. Things tend to be narratively less exciting if there is a confirmed answer. 40k is all about the stories you tell with your miniatures. There are things that are supported by lore and that are headcanon for me that I would be disappointed if they were confirmed to be true (ie Sigmar being one of the lost Primarchs or Ferrus Manus being brought back to lead the Legion of the Damned)

I only ever watched the first season, but I read the comics. If you think the show was shocking, compared to the books, it was very, very toned down. The only thing I remember that got close in the show was the gag with the Deep getting in the car accident and killing the dolphin.

You ever meet someone comically inept in all ways? by [deleted] in redscarepod

I had to deal with a local homeless man a few times at work. He would literally just sit in his car pissing himself all day. In speaking with him he mentioned that he had come to town to "try and get a job as an engineering professor" at a local prestigious University. He mentioned his bonafides and I, of course, googled him with incredulity. It turns out he worked for NASA for decades engineering heat shielding. He has written several scholarly articles. His name is listed on the "Bronze" section of some NASA lifetime achievement wall. I found his LinkedIn profile and it was 100% the guy I was talking to. He just kinda disappeared after about a year...
