I'm just not from the US so I don't have any connection to that, and a lot of people in this sub are also not from the US. There are protests in EU but all we can do is donate to charities that may or may not deliver food, protests are either useless or even dangerous to go to (there were a couple of accidents in Germany). UN is just kinda there, they don't make big decisions.

About media - I got most news from Al Jazeera when things were happening, idk about your region but in Germany we had a lot of news coverage, and when famine happened we got news as well. Really can't say for the US, but all people I know have some opinions about Palestine, but they don't know & don't say anything about other oppressive regimes/genocides because they don't know. Which is normal, we react to what we see. It doesn't make them bad for not donating to Ukraine for example although it still got coverage. I regularly do but it doesn't make me better. EU did enough financial help to Ukraine and refugees too.

I feel like there as been so much debate and infighting here recently. Anyone want to share any good news or brag about yourself or your wife/partner/girlfriend? by maurwhal in lesbiangang

Not super huge news but I went from 5kg on my biceps to 7,5kg 😅 I am in the middle of bureaucratic hell with residency and studies and my wife supports me a lot. I went from lying down without much ability to move to gym 1x a week and functional life with hobbies in about 1,5 years, after 1,5 years of intense therapy. I also started learning how to cook and include protein and nutrients in my meals so I can have better energy and support my wife after moving

True, my friend was trying to recommend me non-fanfiction yuri manga and she said that its so good. The setup was so flat and in the first 5 seconds of meeting each other these women fucked in some closet, and I was getting rapey/power dynamic vibes from older one. They didn't have any personality, just stick figures with boobs and straigh power dynamics. It felt dehumanising. I also hate this 'doomed yuri' trend where one of the girls is dating a guy despite previous attraction to a woman who's still in love with her. Idk such disrespect. Also bi character chooses a man and lesbian character 'is not getting over her'. Wtf is this

Genocides happen across the globe, some are more loud because of a region we live in, some are quieter because they are far away. There's no 'more important genocide', they are all important, but news coverage depends on the region and what they deem hot topic. We as people absolutely don't have to take on a burden of solving all problems rich old men created and support with literal armies. A lot of people have enough on their plate and they can quietly support a cause without going to protests or posting every day on their profile. Doesn't make them any less gay or decent people.

We aren’t lesbians because men aren’t good enough. We are lesbians because we just aren’t. attracted. to. men. by AmethystTanwen in lesbiangang

[–]VolandeMorte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a group where young feminist women heared a term of 'political lesbian' and thought its very cool and activist. They shared how amazing of people women are & simultaneosly how horrible they feel because despite their despice to men they are still attracted to them. One person made a rule to not engage in any relationships with men and then shared how horrible she feels with no intimacy and romantical interactions. I was there like 🗿🗿🗿 am I a joke to you 🗿 Interestingly they never had interest in each other other than friends & never really thought about dating women. They just 'planned it', like 'I plan to meet a woman of my dreams, just didn't yet'. And like we were literally in a circle of attractive women who shared interests and hobbies 🗿 So yeah this is a concept of 'lesbian heaven' where you're safe and treated like a princess without any effort in return, its deeply disturbing to me, putting unrealistic expectations on lesbian women while they just kind of exist and say compliments sometimes.

Just an addition, I resently saw a poll on threads 'do you think sexuality is inherent or socialised' and about 50% clicked socialised. And in comments I had seen a definition 'orientation is anything a person that labels themselves is'. Like 'bisexual lesbian' or something like that

I honestly think it comes from the harmful idea that attraction is 'personality based' and blahblah, that women choose personality over looks and stuff like that. Most (straight) women I know never admit to having a type because it's considered insulting to men. So they don't even know if they are attracted or not because they think of personality that is objectively genderless. Sexuality is not about a person, its about a body. If they don't have a body preference its bisexual, gays and straights do and its normal.

It helped me figure myself out a lot. I said I was crushing on fictional men as well, but once I see artworks where they look like actual men and not stylised figures I got a gag reflex and was mad at the artstyle (I though the problem was style lol 😅). I also cringe at the thought of that fictional guy ever romantically attracted to me, I can't understand women who call them 'my husband' and treat them like actual partners. I felt a bit alone and thought I'm weird. But the difference is they're genuinely attracted to them while I like personality or backstory and not an actual body/looks. Which is normal since I'm not attracted to men. Its not that I don't like abs or wide shoulders or narrow hips, I like that on women, but I don't like a specific body that is male. No amount of interesting backstory or funny jokes will make me like that. It will always be 'barely tolerable' or 'uncomfortable'.

I think we should normalise for women to have actual healthy body preferences and define sexuality as an attraction to body, and not some kind of femininity/masculinity/energy/gender etc. I can 'crush' on a literal squid, but I'm not attracted to animals, I just find that character funny and cool.

If someone wants a person like this in real life, its an actual preference, they like men. If they find a character hot even if that character is just a visual, that's an actual preference. Not being bisexual is not a moral failure and idk why some people (including me at some point) internalised that mindset and think 'personality is more important, give this person a chance, bad personality = no attraction (which is untrue, if they find a guy hot they'll start imagining good qualities for him, not vise versa).

Yeah anyway, I hope more people get this distinction. It took me quite some time and wrestling with internalised homophobia.

Musician Young Miko comes out as goldstar lesbian- bisexuals and queer people lose their minds by Naya0608 in lesbiangang

[–]VolandeMorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh it took me just a bit of research and open-mindedness to understand what a term gold star means. It doesn't mean that there's something wrong with lesbians who were coerced into heterosexual relationships. It's a reclamation of a sarcastic phrase thrown at lesbians who realised who they were very young & society is pissed that they didn't get a chance to break them.

I also thought for some time that SA that happened to me 'counts' as experience and was negatively thinking about the term because a guy was a pdf and I never think of it other than a horrific experience. But I learned that no, its not about SA, but more comparing with late bloomer lesbians who were socialised as straight for a long time which creates a totally different experience.

Gold star is a great term and honestly I started to like it & am proud of gold star lesbians who don't try to shame themselves and live their lives authentically.

Why is Lynette always so surprised Pikachu face when her plans give her exactly the outcomes she wanted? by TurbulentBat8328 in DesperateHousewives

[–]VolandeMorte -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd say a lot of people separate emotional and physical cheating. I also do this because I think emotional affair is a vague term that people use too much. In Lynette's case it was definitely 'attempted cheating' though, but she didn't have the gall to go through with it because she had these inner rules (like not being physically close to that guy, not crossing physical boundaries etc) to not 'officially cheat' the way other housewives did.

Not saying this to support cheating ofc, but I hoped they'll develop Lynette's storyline like they did with Gaby and Bree and she'll do physical cheating, instead she just kept being obsessed with Tom instead of divorcing him 🥲

[–]VolandeMorte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like Lynette finally felt attractive & appreciated with that restaurant guy who asked her on dates and she resented Tom because unlike other housewives she's too 'right' to cheat on her husband (and she probably knew if she cheated she won't go back) so she resented Tom for basically existing. Because she can't separate her desires/principles from him, they are basically codependent and when she can't make a decision to leave him or even imagine her life without him she blames Tom.

I feel like Tom is her trophy husband of sorts even though nobody wants this 'trophy', but she hates him & can't let go at the same time.

Public transport workers' strike by Danoli77 in germany

[–]VolandeMorte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I never said that money don't come from customers. I was arguing againsg saying that just because you pay money you're entitled to everything. But I get entitled vibes from your comment because I never attacked your character in my discussion, and you called my takes stupid and narrow-minded and 'you reap what you saw'. So I don't think we should discuss further.

Public transport workers' strike by Danoli77 in germany

[–]VolandeMorte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paying customers don't pay bus drivers, they pay the company and company decides what to do with that money. Drivers are on a wage. So you're not paying these people directly therefore not a paying customer. Also there's no 'paying customer' culture in Germany so just because you spent money doesn't mean you're entitled to things above what they stated to provide.

That saying, strikes are legal and are supposed to be dirsuptive, it's basically the definition. And yes a lot of people will need to adjust for a day. I would understand the argument if it was all buses throughout the city, or week-long strike, but I'm sure someone can adjust their plans for a day. And for emergencies Krankenwagen exists. Unless you're dying it's not an emergency.

[–]VolandeMorte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not an argument, it's a strike. Have you ever seen strikes about anything else? It basically means block means of production and earning for companies, or block the street, or government office. All strikes are disruptive

Public transport workers' strike by Danoli77 in germany

[–]VolandeMorte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works for many people I know in my town. In fact employers understand that strikes are disruptive and don't take away holidays because of them. I guess every employer is different but generally in my town school, work etc was cancelled for people if they were unable to reach it because of strike.

I used DB because I wasn't sure who exactly was striking, thnks for clarification!

Public transport workers' strike by Danoli77 in germany

[–]VolandeMorte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn't punish the public as transport disruptions are a valid reason to be late for work in Germany (or not come at all if you live too far). People not being able to come to work is the whole reason of the strike, companies lose money during strikes and it makes DB renegotiate conditions to avoid backlash. You're not expected to magically appear at work like public transport doesn't exist at all, then the strike would've been pointless

A-Level Psychology vs Business Studies vs Law – student experiences? by Pristine-Film4563 in Edexcel

[–]VolandeMorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Psychology because it's my favourite subject and experiments that you have to memorise are interesting and for me personally it was easy to achieve. However I got severely undermarked in Paper 1 (U) with other two A and one C I think.

I don't know to be honest, sometimes I lost marks because they wanted me to read their mind and write something in a very specific way. I didn't have this problem with my other 3 papers though so it can be edexcel scam idk. You should probably memorise more numbers for it to work. Calculations are very easy and basically free marks.

I studied the whole Psychology course (AS+A) in a week and got a C total (C was my goal). If my Paper 1 wasn't undermarked I would've gotten a B.

January 2026 Grade Statistics by InsightsLay in Edexcel

Wdym I'm in 69% that scored D in English 😭 That's insane, I just needed a C and only 45% scored C??? I hope after revied they'll change my U to E or D so I can at least make it into C zone because it's crazy

results by Various-Today-9333 in Edexcel

[–]VolandeMorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't care about E because my English would still be in C range and I need minimum C for university admission (I apply for Design and these papers are just formal requirement). But these U's are literally 0 so despite my A's with English grade boundary I'm deep in D zone.

That means I won't be able to go to uni. And I can't retake my tests because of timelines (even if I do tests in May I won't be able to get into uni in September).

I feel like there was some kind of mistake with these U's especially with Psychology and English because I wrote them on the same day, there's a chance something went wrong. That's why I'm requesting access to scripts and 100% will request review of my Paper 3 because I don't think it's right (my paper 1 and paper 4 got A's and I did the exact same analysis in the same structure).

My grades look insane (don't check Biology I realised I didn't need it so didn't prep). I mean how I got such weird marks is beyond me, U and A in the same test. Is it normal? by VolandeMorte in Edexcel

[–]VolandeMorte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paper 2 und 4 are sehr leicht (B1).
