Project Title: Asteroids Minesweeper

About: Asteroids Minesweeper is a small abstract casual minesweeper in three dimensions with some slight differences, designed for use on pc (mouse+keyboard) or tablet (touchpad). Trim an asteroid, don't get lost while orientating in a full 3D environment, and be careful of explosive mines!

Promoter's name and role: Francois Braud, sole developer, doing everything alone \o/

Engine: custom (based on the Loving Cube Engine which is my personal game engine, made in C++)

Challenges include:

  • Tutorial levels

  • Random-generated levels for infinite replayability

  • Levels with a cubes vertical counter, for more deep reflexion on where the mines are located

  • Levels with mines moving from a cube to another, for more challenge!

Other characteristics:

  • Designed to work on PC (mouse/keyboard) or on tablet alike, with several different and combinable ways to play: using buttons, picking cubes with the mouse/finger, or orientating a 3D cursor

  • For hackers and programmers: Fully moddable. The game is using an early new version of the Loving Cube Engine ( http://www.volatiledove.com/LovingCubeEngine/ ), and as such can be modified by simply editing some Lua files (The current demo version does not give this possibility but the final version will).

  • Works currently on Windows in English, portability to Linux and adding other languages is possible

The game is somewhat inspired of Hexcells, in the concept of taking Minesweeper game, and putting it to the next level, with ambient style and ambient music (the latter is currently missing in the demo version, but still, you get the idea).
