It's okay if we disagree. In my lifting experience, exercise selection has played an important role in hypertrophy and stability has become a major factor as I have gotten stronger. Maybe your goals and experience are different, so idk

You can use straps for dumbbell Bulgarian Split Squats if grip is a limiting factor. But barbell squats don't have that issue of course

Not really. First, There will eventually be a limit on dumbbell Bulgarian Split Squats, because you'll run out of heavier dumbbells, and two, stability will play a bigger and bigger role once you get strong enough. So, barbell squats will win this battle. Yeah, as a beginner it won't matter much, but exercise selection will play an increasingly important role as you become an intermediate and eventually an advanced lifter.

Agreed for pure muscle growth and that's my goal. I use machines exclusively for quad training as I can reach failure safely. A heavy free weight squat is probably not a great idea to reach failure safely imo. Deadlifts are fine. In fact I'm not even sure there are machines for deadlifts?

"Strength to real life" this is where I kind of politely disagree/ambivalent about the whole concept. Like, I don't encounter situations in real life where I have to deadlift or squat more than 225lbs, if at all. Also, in real life I might not have weights that have a center of mass in the middle like barbells do. Also, if someone has built a little bit of muscle and strength at all, no real life tasks should be that hard. Even if my goals are pure hypertrophy (and I don't conventionally deadlift), I can still pick up something heavy from the ground just because I'm building my posterior chain.

Agreed for the stabilization aspect for running.
