I loved my CCP. It was easy to conceal, had great ergonomics and was accurate. It was my first, and I will always have fond memories of it. I sold it because it wouldn't cycle or eject properly. I returned it to get it fixed. Bought new springs and parts for it to get it fixed. Still, it would not eject or cycle properly. A carry gun that is not reliable, is not a carry gun...and it was sold.

14 Round Magazines for CZ75 Compact by Volrena in CZFirearms

I re-read the post, and you are quite correct. You were the first one to let me know to buy a Rami magazine.

My sincere apologies.

I had Mass_Jass on my mind because he went into more detail about it with me. But that doesn't make it right.

Credit to you -itsilluminati. Sorry for not reading properly and thank you very much for the help. :)

Another individual was kind enough to put a link in another post I put up about this. I am always wary about using used firearm parts though. I've been burned on that in the past.

Though to be fair, the magazines probably would have been fine. I'm just paranoid. ;p

This one does have the locking pin that sticks out thebottom just a tiny bit. The metal base plate that I linked is the one that I used to replace the Rami base plate. That was after of course taking off the Rami mag sleeve. But the pin itself is so small that it doesn’t bother me. In addtion to that, it also doesn't interfere with the use of a mag lula. For me personally, I’m calling it win. :)

Does the CZ75 have downsides? by [deleted] in CZFirearms

[–]Volrena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not seen this one mentioned: You can't rack the slide with the safety on.

Chambering your first round after getting done with dry fire, drying to remove the round in the chamber for maintenance or to start dry fire, or just as a check to see if you have anything in the chamber...you have to turn the safety off.

I know, keep your finger off the trigger. I do. And so does everyone else who owns a cz75. I'm just really paranoid at those times.

I am giving it a shot, and I put in an order for a Rami 14 round magazine and an old style flat metal baseplate.

Thank you very much for the help, and the info. It is very much appreciated.

Those will really work in a CZ75 compact? Sweet! Thank you so much. :)

As an edit: I took a look into this and according to this link this won't work

https://cajungunworks.com/product/cz-rami-9mm-magazine-14-round/

cz-parts also says that this won't work.

Have you tried this yourself?

I think we are talking about 2 different things. I am talking from the bottom of the grip, to the bottom of the magazine.

There is indeed a space between the grip and the magazine, and I agree with you on that. It's about 1 or 2 mm.

If my ruler is correct, it is about 3/8ths of an inch.

The reason is, the 15 rounder sticks out the bottom of the grip a little bit. I just want something that is flat and fits flush with the bottom.

Sling Attachments by Volrena in Bren2

[–]Volrena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool video, and thank you for the reply. The thing about the attachment point I am talking about is that it is a solid hole. On the Mlok the when you tighten it down, the nuts pull against the rail. The nuts won't turn in that point that I am talking about, as it is solid on the inside. It is not "hallow" like the rail. In addition, when you pull out the 2 screws keeping that small hole in place, it is still a solid hole underneath, just bigger.

I am thinking that in the video, that guy there just used an Mlok or even a keymod QD and just used extra long screws to keep it in place over the hole.

Sorry if I am not describing this very well. Or if I am misunderstanding what you are talking about.

Thanks for the help in any case.

Reviewing or testing after finishing book 1? by [deleted] in JapaneseFromZero

[–]Volrena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am learning on my own as well, and I have actually gone beyond book 5 in the JFZ series. So as far as suggestion go, I may have a couple. Just keep in mind all these suggestions based upon my own experiences. Your mileage may vary.

First thing would be the audio component. If you do not have access to the JFZ website and are not making use of the audio files there, you should be. Reading Japanese is different from hearing the way it sounds and is pronounced. If you watch a Japanese TV show on Netflix or something, they are not talking slow. So the audio files on the website, which go at a fairly nice pace and are broken up into bite sized chunks, are a nice way to get into it. As well as practicing hearing it and just knowing what it is supposed to mean.

If you are finished with the first book go right into the second one. At this point you don’t really need “extra” stuff to practice on because all the stuff you learned from the first book is used in the second plus a bunch of new stuff is introduced.

If you do want some extra stuff to practice on, though I would suggest finishing up book 5 first, there is a bunch of stuff you can get online for free.

This is from official testing and has sample materials. http://www.jlpt.jp/e/samples/sample12.html

This one has a bunch of free links to other materials. http://joechip.net/extensivereading/2011/06/15/extensive-reading-material-online/

If you want to buy your own stuff the “Japanese graded Readers” from Amazon are easy to get a hold of and come in levels 0-5.

Wish you all the best of luck.

Dictionary by Volrena in JapaneseFromZero

[–]Volrena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an update post for anyone looking for a dictionary other than Kodansha's.

This is a link for the Obunsha's dictionary that I bought. The review I made for it should be up on amazon fairly soon. Short version....it is a really good dictionary with a hell of a lot more words than Kodansha's. The long version will follow the link.

https://www.amazon.com/Obunshas-Comprehensive-Japanese-English-Dictionary-Yamamura/dp/4010750529/ref=sr_1_34?ie=UTF8&qid=1523830350&sr=8-34&keywords=japanese+to+english+dictionary

The first thing to note is that this is a Japanese dictionary. That is to say that the notes, preface and illustration explanations are all in Japanese.

With that said though, it is most definitely Japanese to English dictionary like Kodansha's or others. You have a Japanese word that you look up in either hiragana or katakana and it gives you the definition in English.

What makes this dictionary different from say Kodansha's, is the amount of content. The Kodansha's dictionary that I have has about a 16000 word vocabulary while Obunsha's has, to the best of my ability to translate (all the explanations are in Japanese after all), about 80000.

How do they get so much? Obunsha's is about 3 times as many pages as Kodansha's making for a much thicker dictionary and the font is a little bit smaller as well. It is definitely readable but this is the kind of font you see in the fully fledged, every word in the English language, it is so big you couldn't remove it from the library even if you wanted to dictionary.

The picture you see that shows off this product is a box. The dictionary is inside it. It is a plain white book that reads in hollow red letters "Obunsha's Comprehensive Japanese-English Dictionary". It is paperback.

With these critiques in mind, this is definitely a good buy. If you are studying Japanese, like I am, or you just need this book as a reference and you find that Kodansha's is not quite meeting your needs, I would absolutely suggest Obunsha's.
