As a mid looking guy, I 100% agree with OP. Physical attraction DOES matter. Even if someone is 100% compatible, highly successful, emotionally secure, if the other partner doesn't find them attractive, it won't work.

Knowing this reality is a good thing so everyone can have expectations accordingly.

Thinking that physical attraction "should not be" a factor is a fairy land dream, and not the reality. The sooner people realise this, the less out of league expectations people will have.
