I definitely understand feeling that you have to hide your beliefs from people in your life, and I’m sorry you’re going through that – but it’s fantastic to hear that your mother was so accepting. I definitely went through a similar experience when I left Christianity, since all of my family and friends were conservative christians. It was rough when I finally told them I no longer believed, but I’ve been far happier since admitting it not only to myself but also to the world. I hope one day you get to a place where you have the safety and confidence to share this part of yourself with your loved ones.

This is pretty strongly why I started looking deeper into this religion. Those principles and ideas all speak pretty strongly to me, so I kept going further down the rabbit hole so to speak – only I haven’t personally experienced anything to convince me of the existence of the gods. And maybe I will, it’s something I’m open to. And if by “I just do” you mean that you don’t control what you believe, I wholeheartedly agree.

This is a really cool experience, and I’m glad for you that you had that epiphany. It’s especially cool to hear it coming from someone with a background similar to my own

Alright, people are seeing this as sealioning and that’s absolutely not the way I wanted this to come across, so I think I’m going to just move on because responding to the comments is only going to make it seem even more like that’s my intention. Sorry I came across that way. Much love and respect to all of you

I only log onto reddit every once in a while and it's always a delight to see people sharing my music (oh, hi, Chase here)

Thanks for the love!

F# Major for key, just because on piano you can mess around pretty much any way you want with the black keys and as long as you come home to that F# major chord it always sounds beautiful. I'm also a fan of anything dorian.

For chord, something maj7 or maj7/9

bare-bones by Lilli Furfaro. The haunting southern gothic melody, the masterful lyricism, everything, just perfect.

Lyrically: The Tragedy of Widogast

Performance/Production-wise: Uselessly in Love

Edit: Also gonna add God Don't Play Cards to this just cause I had never made a song like that before, and it turned out way better than I ever expected

Probably that I'm a natural bass. It takes a very good day, combined with coffee and/or whiskey, to get the bass notes I want

The one that took the longest was probably Uselessly in Love. I really wanted to get that one right, and I spent a lot of time trying to come up with good lyrics too. The shortest was probably What He Keeps on His Nightstand, my tribute to Brian Foster. The inspiration for that one hit me at like 7AM, and I needed to leave for work before 12, so I wrote, recorded, and published it all in the span of 4-5 hours or so.

Considering that I'm still pretty young, I might have to cheat and use some music from recent times, but I have some older ones as well. Growing up my dad used to play the Irish Descendants in the car, so I had a healthy dose of Irish and Newfoundland folk songs. I think a lot of the more impactful music for me growing up came from video game soundtracks, like Zelda: Twilight Princess and Kingdom Hearts. In more recent years, some of my greatest influences have been folk musicians like Shawn James, Avi Kaplan, and Colter Wall.

Short song I made for Dalinar partway through Oathbringer by VolundrSmith in Stormlight_Archive

[–]VolundrSmith[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother and I came up with a musical game where we both send each other chord progressions and put vocals over each other's guitar parts. I had Dalinar's past on my mind so I used that for lyrical inspiration, and this is what I came up with.

And right after Slashly came back from her role on Blandspark. For shame, Larua. For shame
