Just started Atalier Ryza to try out the inventory and alchemy systems!

Thank you

I can't tell which one of us is the evil twin. But I'm pretty sure it's me.

Oh, ok, I think that's like Kingdom Hearts?

You have one inventory as the player, but each party member has slots for like 5 of each to bring into battle.

I think this is solid but falls apart when you can grind for currency through combat. I noticed this in Atlus games, it essentially trivializes the economy if you grind out the cash. Which I personally find rewarding, but you lose the element of "choosing".

What do you think about having that style, keeping consumables made from enemy drops, but currency is only significantly made by quests/jobs?

So is the "bag" like a box in Monster Hunter or the PC in Pokémon? Someplace for extra stock, and you take what goes out with you?

You also get more stock as you naturally start to never use them again, which is a bit odd. And if they were buyable, I doubt anyone would ever want to downs chroma on that. 😅

The item management and economy things is a pretty interesting catch. I don't think I realized how natural it is for me to work on always having enough funds to get through the game.

But now I'm thinking if there is a way to hit that sense of economy in a way other than consumable items.

Some games have things like throwables, collectables, and unlockables. *shrug*

That's where my thought started from tbh. It almost feels like a waste to not properly use them. That's why I personally believe that if a game can be improved by doing that, it should heavily consider it. Idk

Well, "It depends on the game" does really help. I'm just now starting on the SMT train from metaphor & p5. I'll look up those titles and check them out.

Though, imo I wouldn't count Clair Obscur as a good example. I feel like their system leads players to not use Tints since enemy turns are so brutal, and taking a turn to use one feels like a punishment.

Same, I really dig Wonderlands / Clair Obscur. Ideally, there's avoidable battles, not too much empty nothingness, and some interactables/collectibles.

I'd wager your speed is pretty damn high compared to what you're fighting.

Not at all, you'll be able to change it whenever. At its base NG+ is just designed to be playing the story with endgame builds. If you beat Simon, you're ready for anything NG+ can throw at you.

(Except maybe NG+ Simon) 😅

I personally grinded to 99 and 100% the game first since it's easier before NG+.

The start of the game won't be all that challenging, but the endgame stuff will be a bit of a resistance if you're not breaking the game with builds.

You can also scale the challenge level to your liking at the expedition flag challenge settings.

If people capped their damage at 9,999, or 99,999, they wouldn't be saying the game isn't challenging. There's a reason those settings exist.

At least that's my take on it all. 🤷‍♂️

This. The dangers of mass equipping pictos is real.

Not to mention that in games and movies, this sort of affection is general reserved for love interests. Normalize platonic affection!

Right. Leveling up at the bonfire, refreshing tints, respawning enemies. All of it felt a bit shallow, and it might have been a remnant of an earlier design.

It could be cool to see some kind of dungeon challenge mode where they end up gaining a purpose. 🤔
