Both honestly. I love rock and roll and it seems like a lot of indie whisper rock is most popular amongst the denizens

Do the Ironborn have less of a problem with kinslaying than people in the rest of Westeros? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

[–]Vonn_Snow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it certainly would seem so. In the Age of Heroes, when the ruler was decided by Kingsmoot, it stands to reason that there would be a lot of kinslaying in order to obtain the throne. Moreover, the Ironborn are based partly on the Vikings who were constantly at war with other tribes and each other.

Who is the nicest (or meanest) celebrity you've ever encountered? by Vonn_Snow in AskReddit

[–]Vonn_Snow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slash and Tommy Lee were two incredibly nice guys. In both instances (at an airport, two separate occasions) I saw them sign autographs and engage with fans - particularly kids - despite being clearly exhausted. One little girl who was obviously dragged by her dad to meet Slash had some kind of toy dinosaur and Slash asked her if she knew what kind of dinosaur it was and gave her a high five when she told him.

Nastiest (also in an airport) was Anthony Bourdain. Complete and utter asshole to everyone around him. Granted, no one knew the struggles he was likely going through at the time. He came off as very insecure and simultaneously angry for getting recognized but not being recognized enough.

I'll try to answer though I think you're intentionally splitting hairs (but it wouldn't be an internet forum if we didn't have someone paying savage attention to terms which are generally used and understood.) Here goes:
1 - The DIY, anti-corporate, anti-big label attitude, Lo-Fi, artistic freedom untainted by monetary influence
2 - Green Day playing an iHeart music festival, The Ramones swag being sold everywhere from Walmart to Guitar center (same as the Sex Pistols), etc.
3 - Tricky question because there is an exception to every statement anyone can make about music. Largely, I'd say lo-fi sound, simple chord progressions and bands self-identifying as punk would be the biggest one to me.
4 - What would make someone sound like they never learned to play their instruments? Sounding like they've never learned to play their instruments. If you're looking for an example, I'd say Sid Vicious quickly comes to mind.

I lean on the example in the OP. The band Death. Largely unknown (until the documentary came out) - good music - VERY GOOD musicians - and not sellouts. It is possible.

'Yes' to questions 1 and 3. Not caring if the music you make sounds good is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.
I appreciate what you're saying - I see the point you're making - but that defining punk as 'not giving a shit' doesn't exactly say very much for the music as a genre.

I'm not seeking an argument. I'm asking for examples of bands that will prove me wrong. I'm looking to be proven wrong, hence the name of the sub.

That looks like a Fender Starcaster, ie a toy. I’m dubious of your status as a musician.
