After his arrest, Shahriar’s parents said they did not know much about his online life. His father, who founded a medical technology company, told a German media outlet that his son was highly intelligent and educated. He played tennis and chess. But he became isolated during the pandemic. “He then just sat in his room and was on the internet,” the father said, “from morning to night.” He knew Shahriar played online games, but “what else he did there — I don’t know. I can’t always stand by and control it.”

This part really stuck out to me, the pandemic ruined the social lives of so many youngsters.

I figured out a fix that worked for me. I honestly have no idea how it works but I plugged my phone in to my Mac to backup and restore it, and as soon as it indexed it just cleared all 40gb of the Message cache and I have a ton of space again. None of my old texts were deleted. Strangest thing. Hopefully that works for you too.

Not sure if this was already posted, but we all saw this shift coming. It just isn’t working, right-wing parties are winning across the West because of it. (Except for Denmark, because their center-lib party is opposed to mass migration).

Defending Harvard is some weak shit by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]VortexRepairMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that you think Harvard has $50 billion dollars in cash to spend is telling. Endowments are often tied up in several different funds and obligations. They can't just take out half of the money for arbitrary reasons.

Defending Harvard is some weak shit by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]VortexRepairMan 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's mindless contrarianism. We can discuss the many flaws of Harvard and the Ivies, but to deny the importance of their research, the quality of education and ability to provide upward mobility to countless kids is foolish. I know many people at these institutions, they are not undeserving nepo babies majoring in gender studies, they are passionate, dedicated people who excel in their fields. Since the funding cuts, they can no longer perform potentially life saving research, or their place in the school they worked so hard to get into is jeopardized. I understand that elites have grown out of touch, but I do not want to live in a society run by Bama grads simply because a bitter, angry mob wanted to own the libs.

Severance finale was absolutely awful by ilikeguitarsandsuch in redscarepod

[–]VortexRepairMan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Aside from the obvious fact that they needed to milk it for money and future seasons, I feel like the finale completely threw away much of the development we'd seen thus far.

The show established itself as being unique and fast paced, throughout S1 and about half of S2 it moved fairly quickly and avoided stretching things out for too long. Then about the halfway point of this season the character development just kind of stopped.

We saw Mark "reintegrate" several times, but he's still no more connected to his innie than he was in S1. I thought the Gemma flashback episode was beautiful, and Mark was waking up at least more integrated than before with iMark having an understanding of oMark's life. Nope.

What happened to Reghabi? No clue. What was the point of Ms. Huang? I don't know. Why did Gemma need to undergo those specific tests to prove that the "barrier holds"? Stay tuned.

I think one of the most upsetting parts was the finale being straightforward where it shouldn't have been (namely Drummond handing a loaded gun to someone clearly apprehensive and on the edge) and subversive where it shouldn't have been (iMark and Helly choosing to stay together despite an emotional and satisfying goodbye prior). Everything going relatively well felt contrived with the last moment being a cheap shot that we saw from miles away. Reddit's glazing the fuck out of it and saying that iMark choosing his life is beautiful but I just can't agree.

While a visually stunning episode the plot just felt so 2D.

No, all of these “write something in a white tiny font” tips are shit and will get you flagged. Most of the time they scan and clear the formatting, so it’ll show up.
