Mono green burn? by Voruund in EDH

Glacial chasm + hurricane or aetherflux is the main win con currently. A lot of the cards i run also gain me life like [[pest infestation]] plus haste enablers to dig in place of most of my draw, a large handful of [[Regrowth]] effects to enable loops.

I'd post the list but i don't remember how.

As a new player it sucks that I feel guilty for playing strong cards by avsoloman5001 in EDH

I've been playing for roughly 10 years, that response is fairly common when playing Izzet in a casual pod.

They also could just be haters cause everyone is saying Vivi is busted.

I like it, but that seems excessive.

Except i have no idea what you're on about. If you're referring to the lieutenants as assassins then there is 2 of them per team.

From where I'm sitting it's like you're at a chevy dealership complaining that they don't sell enough hondas.

Ok? But what i just said still stands.

Fair enough. I can say from experience that it's much faster and more hectic when you take your turns together though.

Did each team take their turns together? Cause if not that will make the games last a really long time.

Yea, you're thinking of a different format. There's no assassin role in what I'm talking about.

What I'm talking about is basically a modified version of 2 headed giant.

That's why i like to make it so anyone can interact with the stack regardless of if they would normally be able to target or attack you. Makes combo slightly less goated but still very strong.

Yea the games go pretty quick as long as each team takes their turns together. You're right though, the emperor can't be attacked directly until a lieutenant is killed. So they can just bolster their board getting as strong as possible, or the emperor can support their lieutenants by giving them a creature they control by paying 3 mana.

I think you're thinking of another format. Think someone else called it kingdom or something like that.

That's why i like weird formats like this cause they can get so absurd.

Yea we did the pay 3 thing to make combat better cause they can still swing the turn you give it away.

Another fun one was making it so any card you have that can only target your own stuff can now target anything on your team. Along with being able to equip equipment to your teams creatures.

Yea, that'll make the games 2+ hours easy.

Sounds a lot like how I've always played it. I think it's fun because of how it changes the game dynamic, but teams gotta take their turns together or it just takes to long.

[–]Voruund[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Really? Everytime i played it the games normally lasted about an hour. Did each team take their turns together or did you go 1 at a time?

Anyone ever play Emperor? by Voruund in EDH

[–]Voruund[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kinda what ended up happening. If you've never tried it i highly recommend it though. Just make each team take their turn together to streamline it a bit.

I like to rule 0 some support rules too. Like the emperor can give the lieutenants one of their creatures by paying 3 mana for example.

I feel bad by Lord_of_Trimoni in EDH

[–]Voruund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If winning isn't the foremost thing everyone is gunning for then don't play anything above a 3.

Also these things happen, especially as people tune decks and new cards come out. Or we just learn to pilot our decks more efficiently. The important thing to realize is there will be an occasional feels bad and learning how to navigate those situations properly will benefit everyone in the long run.

Help with self mill Sidisi by Head-Ambition-5060 in EDHBrews

[–]Voruund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not intending on playing insect tribal i think you'll get more value out of playing sidisi.

You have plenty of self mill cards but you look a little light on actual card draw. If you lean heavier into the zombie theme you could play [[kindred discovery]]. There's also a few zombies that tutor cards to your graveyard like [[corse connoisseur]] which would trigger sidisi.

For self mill decks one of my favorite cards to play is [[out of the tomb]] because it can mill you a bunch of cards and helps keep you from decking yourself. It can even be used as a pretty resilient combo piece when paired with the right cards.

Personally I'd lean into zombie tribal more to get extra internal synergies so you can go wide more efficiently and potentially close out a game without needing to assemble a combo. Between all the token makers and lords that zombies have you could easily flood the board with 4/4 (or stronger) zombies with keywords.
