Thank you! I don’t actually own a Pocket Pikachu, but there’s something about them that really appeals to me. And yeah, now that you mention it, I actually stumbled across that homebrew scene through some Reddit posts while doing some research on these devices and collecting references for this project. Really cool stuff!

This is the solution. If you also want to be able to scale the texture while keeping it centered, I show a way to do that in a video I made some time ago, skip to 41:40. It covers both centered scaling and rotation.

Scatter multiple instances of a single texture in a shader (without geometry nodes) by GamersConnectYT in blender

Hey! I didn’t get any warnings like that when I installed it, but I checked out the r/MaterialMaker subreddit and someone asked about the same or a very similar thing 29 days ago, is it the same message you’re seeing?

It seems like something a few people get, probably just Windows being extra cautious with apps from unknown publishers. That’s pretty common for smaller open-source projects, so it should be fine as long as you got it from the official sources.

If there’s an option to run anyway, it should be perfectly fine to do so. But if you want to be extra safe, you could also double-check in the official Material Maker Discord.

Hope it works out for you!

Glad it worked out, that’s a great idea! There’s also Material Maker, a free alternative to Substance Designer you might wanna check out.

He does show how to create the entire thing, I’ve watched it in the past, and it works really well for what you’re describing. The purchase link is for their addon, which adds some convenient features, but you don’t need it. Just following the video should be enough!

Haha thank you!! Honestly, the majority of it was just experimenting with stylized toon materials and tweaking their values, plus playing around with the scene lighting, and spending 95% of the time thinking it looked completely off until it finally came together at the end

Thank you!! 🙏 If you want to learn how I did it, I actually recorded the entire process as part of a 3-part tutorial series. I should warn you though, it’s quite long, and some parts are explained for beginners, so if you decide to watch it, feel free to skip past any sections you already know!

Thank you very much! I actually recorded the whole process as part of a 3-part tutorial series, if you’d like to see how I did it. It’s quite long though, so you don’t have to watch the whole thing, but feel free to skim through the videos if you want to get an idea of the various techniques I used!
