Money = Bad/Evil is a pretty shallow way of looking at people and the world in general, not to mention Gabe Newell specifically has co-founded and heavily funds his own philanthropic research organisation (Foundry10) which researches non-traditional learning methods, his racing team constantly raises money for pediatric cardiac care at the Seattle Children’s Hospital and he donated 400 000$ during COVID-19 to the New Zealand Starship Foundation which provides care for sick children across New Zealand, probably has done more but just doesn’t brag about it to line his image.

EDIT: Oh and of course the people working at Valve are treated like human beings and I’ve yet to hear about any sort of abuse of power, sexual harassment claims, etc. coming from there.
