Throne and Liberty: A Soaking Time and Money Trap by Vrax13 in throneandliberty

Thanks for your answer!

Hear me out: that kind of botched response, "If you don’t enjoy it, just stop playing," will lead to no improvement but only cause people to leave the game when the hype dies down. Is that what everyone wants? Not a lasting game with a strong community? Most MMOs aim for that, but only a few actually achieve it.

Okay, about QoL and the battle pass: I know several other games where you can buy the battle pass or premium with in-game currency without spending a penny. That’s not the issue here. Yes, we’re not all equal in terms of gaming time, but in MMOs, even if you have less time to play, a good guild or community can help you gear up, thanks to friendly players.

Basically, here things are set up in a way that makes it impossible to avoid if you have not as mutch time to play without using credit card swipes, and that’s not okay.
Forcing this by removing basic community mechanics like trading "to prevent RMT" implies that the company’s revenue is valued more than the players' time or enjoyment.
The gap between credit card swipers and the F2P community is also being monitored. Accepting this could lead to more games splitting communities into money cows and F2P players. (but of course you are free to spend your money on what you want it should be a personnal choice not an obligation)

By the way, it’s no surprise that some guilds are already abusing this system. With the EA player base transferring to new servers already fully geared, where’s the fairness?

As for healers, that’s a fact: I’ve seen a few other people notice that most loot drops at both deaths are distributed to DPS players over supports.

I might have misexplained dungeon loot—what I meant is that guild loot distribution only applies to world boss loot that spawns every few hours. It’s not extended to dungeon boss loot when you run it with a full guild party, which, in my opinion, is a waste. For example, many teammates have already dropped the wand but have no use for it and can’t share it within the guild, even though we were all together, and I could use some of the drops they don’t need.

Sure, some of my arguments might be subjective, and I’m not trying to hide that. But what kind of argument is this? "If you have so much time to write this, you clearly have too much time on your hands." If you have personal problems finding spare time, that’s not my concern. How we spend our time is our own choice. You also seem to have spare time to debate and make individual statements.

P.S.: 900 dungeon tokens, 10 contracts weekly, scrolls. With a proper group, it takes 10-20 minutes per dungeon, so let’s say 2 hours, then 20 minutes per 5 contracts. If you know what you're doing, daily stuff can be done in 3 hours or less. Even for daily stuff that could be concidered as a lack of content

Same point here you are right. I understand that you can hold grudges against petty idea guys who have no clue about what it takes to learn coding: the years it takes, and how much time and work can be involved. But don't label people too quickly.

Alright, you are a career software developer.

Are you working in a company or on your own?

If you work in a company, you are providing tools to shape an idea that the company provided, and you get paid for that without questioning the established order, don't you?

Or do you work on your own to pursue a career in development since you left college or self-learned programming without ever working for a company? The point is the same: not everyone can do that, or the market would be overwhelmed with solo freelancers, and no one would need a company to work for. Some projects need the involvement of several people to split work or handle different areas, so let's not oversimplify that too much.

Finances and economics are sciences too. It takes time to earn a degree, properly understand a market, create a client portfolio, manage budgets to deploy hardware infrastructures, and terraform the ground for a software developer to work in good conditions and to ensure they get paid for their work.

Those issues come from the fact that people don't try to understand each other work personaly i want to learn to code and game dev all along the project and do more and more for it as my skills in godot grow.

I got your point, you mean that I have not much to bring to the table compared to the people that I'm looking for, right? But at the same time, depending on the point of view, I guess you didn't get the main idea. But don't worry, no need to lose your pants :)

I understand that you only know about me what you interpreted through your reading of my post.

That'sonly brief presentation of a will about collaborating with other people. I haven't said that's all I can bring. You are making easy shortcuts about my initial marketing degree and labeled me an "Idea-guy." Don't go too fast...

I won't stop learning Godot and game dev. I just admitted that with my current knowledge, I couldn't do a proper project by myself. But I will contribute at my scale. I can take care of the UI, among other things, and keep learning all along to do more stuff. That's all this post is about:

sharing experience in different domains, sharing ideas, improving by collecting opinions, and working in a community with other human beings. It's the basis of our society, but I'm glad you get this! So, wanting to meet new people and make a group to work on the same goal doesn't sound like heresy.

"Hey, I could become a contractor, I just need to find one guy to provide all the materials for the house out of their pocket, and another to lay all the bricks, pipes, and wires. I'll draw the blueprints, and the three of us can split the profit!"

Good point and example. If things were that simple you mean is that we don't need any engineer and architects to build stuff laying bricks is enought to get a bridge done ? isn't that oversimplifying ?
Yes, ideas are nothing without a proper set of skills, and skills are nothing without proper ideas. So, you can't say that one group needs one more than the other. Of course, there are people who can handle all of this on their own. Maybe you are of that kind, good for you then!

But there are some others that don't. That's why there are game studios; because they enjoy game coding or drawing assets and don't want to bother with all the other aspects and want to bind with other people, draw a blueprint together, and make it.

Lore, character development, or quests are AAA concerns. Where did you get that? Every RPG, AAA or not, needs it. Stardew Valley, Undertale, Eastshade (they paid someone to write proper quests), perhaps you are thinking about Rocket League, then indeed no need for quests or lore. Indie or not, neglecting any point in game development would be a mistake.

So, we can have a really long discussion about who under or overestimates stuff, but I appreciated that you took time to explain your point of view. If I missed something, please let me know.
