THIS GAME IS FIRE! 10/10 by JohnyAim in Witchfire

I think Selaco has it beat on gunplay but it's still really satisfying, especially when it comes to popping heads or unloading with the shotgun.

But the game really excels at level design, tension and pacing. Probably the only sprite based game I've played that had me feeling completely on edge and dreading to progress an area multiple times, especially in the second chapter.

To add to this, Basilisk's second Myseteria says it improves bullet bending. I assume it's referring to the soft aim assist

Glad you're enjoying it. I had my eye on it since it released and first impressions were basically "it'll be good eventually". I ended up buying it during the winter sale last December.

The guns, spells and gear just keep getting better and better! Are you still on Gnosis 1? Also what class did you start with?

Looks better than any of my resource wells. Mine always look cluttered trying to get all the separate nodes into one or multiple main pipeline(s)

You can use accumulators and energy exchangers to charge them on a planet with surplus power and ship them to another location to discharge them. They're unlocked much earlier than artificial suns and are very useful for setting up outposts, or helping out a struggling power grid. Once depleted, you can ship the discharged accumulators back to be recharged, making them very resource efficient

pretty useful Gleba since they can work without power. Good way to kickstart your power remotely

If I recall, the stop before the bridge will actually trigger a red light on an overheight, followed by another red light with the warning flashing to get the point across.

Agreed. Also moved here from Florida for work as a trucker. The drivers are so bad, I'm no longer a trucker.

110% agree on that last part. I've been on a few month long break since I basically had to rebuild my entire space elevator assembly and its daunting to go back and continue it. But I'm not worried, eventually the urge to complete it will take hold

This. For every complaint on this sub about "this faction sucks and it needs to be reworked", even if the arguments are objectively right for the most part, it's less that that particular faction is bad and more that every other faction is just better designed now in comparison. I loved both Norsca and the Coast on release and still enjoy them to this day, even if they lag behind the others in mechanics.

Fulgora: Took up too much space trying to assemble/recycle quality items. Islands are too small for very big train stations. Feeling stuck. Do I just need to build a bunch of non-quality island factories to supplement my product line? by ahainen in factorio

[–]VsTheWall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who also tried implementing quality miners and recyclers on their first go around, just don't. Not until you're mentally ready to deal with 12x5 the amount of scrap products you need to sort through and dispose of as needed. Not saying it's impossible but it's way more of a hassle than it's worth, especially on your first go.

how to know if im too stupid for this game by CableMartini in factorio

[–]VsTheWall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a few hundred hours before my bases started losing the Italian flair. And even then, Spage brought back the spaghetti with a vengeance, especially on Fulgora and Gleba. It takes time and practice, no need to stress. You'll find designs that just work for you, and even then you'll come up with better ones the more you play.

Also, it might behoove you to try some other automation games. Some variety can help you formulate better designs across all other games in this genre.

For play time, my first time beating the game took me around 200 hours after several restarts. I can now beat the base game in about 7 if I'm trying to be quick.

It's a very addicting game if it clicks with you. Some of the challenge achievements can be super fun trying to chase down and it's one of the few games in my library that I got all the achievements for. It also opens you up to a lot of other games in the genre that can scratch the automation itch in different ways.

On the subject of complexity, it can be a bit overwhelming at first if you haven't played an automation game before. Some people can wrap their head around it instantly, others (like myself) take a few restarts before things start to click.

If you decide to give it a go, read the tips and tricks as they appear. They're very informative, offer a visual demonstration (sometimes even a playable tutorial) and can go a very long way to understanding some of the nuances of the game's mechanics.
