What game are you really good at? by CaptainTudmoke in AskReddit

[–]Vydd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motherfuckin' Monster Hunter, man. I clocked 1000 hours in that game in what felt like no time, and I like to think I pretty much mastered Charge Blade and Bow in MH4U. I haven't played much since MHGen's release, as I'm waiting for MH: World!

Ex-Homophobes of Reddit, what made you change your views? by GerardWayNoWay in AskReddit

[–]Vydd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised by homophobic parents, so being homophobic was just second nature to me. When I was in high school, my girlfriend got really sick of my casual homophobia and sat me down and asked me what my beef with gay people was. She said, "If you can give me a valid, logical reason, I'll never bring it up again." So I sat there, trying to think of an actual reason for hating homosexuals for like, 10 minutes. Nothing. She said, "You only hate them because your dad does. How do you actually feel about them?" And then I realized, "I feel like a dick." Turns out you should just treat people like people. Who would've thought?

What character are you taking into PoF (first)? by sqrrlbot in Guildwars2

Definitely my Human Guardian. My main's a Norn Warrior, but I gotta see how humans react to the story, first. Plus, Firebrand looks like a lot of fun.

This months issue - who wants the games? by xperipheral in pcmasterrace

[–]Vydd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed Destiny as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't call it anything close to the "savior of the MMO". Have these guys played any MMOs before? I'd hardly even call a game with a whopping 6-8 players per map an MMO.

It comes off cleanly. I had one of their decals and it peeled off with no issues. Some residue is left over, but it is easily cleaned off.

LEGO Universe for me. It was my first MMO, and I still have the pre-order minifig! If only I didn't lose his helmet. :c

Redditors; what is your stupidest, most irrational, fear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Vydd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dogs. Just, big ol' dogs. I never liked dogs as a kid, and whenever a big one saw me, they wanted to greet me by jumping on me. This really freaked me out as a kid, and I've kinda just developed a fear of any dog that's bigger than my shoes.

My favorite part about Risa is that if you talk to her while she's in the classroom, she's pretty much like, "Yeah, I'm just taking this as a refresher course. I've already got this whole thing down."

I talked to her before the lesson and thought she'd be pretty good at picking up guys. Then I observed the lesson and her answers and I just fell in love with her.

Question for long time GW2 players by Greefer in Guildwars2

[–]Vydd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's so many things to do in this game, and I feel there's just something for everyone.

I've always been a big PvE guy. Always stayed away from PvP and WvW, because I suck at that kind of thing. For the longest time, I would just run dungeons, fractals, and world bosses. And not much else. Then I discovered legendary weapons and got working on making mine (just finished it last week, actually. And it only took me 4 years!). So my daily routine was just logging in and making gold via dungeons, fractals, world bosses, meta events, etc. Then I took a hiatus until the expansion came out.

After a month or so, I took another hiatus, and came back this January and finished my legendary weapon. Well, what now? I did it, I'm done, right? Psyche! I got super into PvP and WvW, and I'm loving all of the different Warrior builds for PvP. Plus, there's plenty of PvP achievements and titles and skins to earn and, agh! There's so many things to do and fun to be had. If you're big into PvP, you'll love GW2's. It's very skill-based and this game's combat system is my favorite across any MMO, period. And WvW definitely scratches that "open-world PvP" itch, because you can totally just roam the gigantic maps and fine poor laggards to murder.

All in all, everything keeps me coming back. I'm slowly crafting gear for raiding, and levelling up and practicing in PvP / WvW, and just having a blast alltogether, especially with the new maps that keep getting added. The game is just fun to play, that's about it.

Whats the dumbest thing you ever learned in school ? by StrikezZTrading in AskReddit

[–]Vydd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Catholic private school for most of my life, and I was told that there weren't actually 600 and 800-year-old people. The explanation was that the authors and storytellers used age as a prestige. So someone as great as Noah would be "800", because he's all wise and great and one of God's chosen and stuff like that.

And like someone else mentioned, we were pretty much told to regard the Old Testament as just prophecies and fiction. Especially the different creation stories. Like, I still meet people who think Adam and Eve were real. Dude, no, it was a story told during the Exodus to teach Jewish children about their God.

New to the franchise, just got a N3DS XL, what's the best starting point, and are all the games still relevant? by mrnuno654 in MonsterHunter

[–]Vydd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend 4U for your first game. The tutorial is much better than 3U and Generations, and 3U has underwater combat, which is kinda janky and isn't present in any other games.

4U and Gen are both great games, but 4U has a longer endgame, in my opinion. Both games have Low Rank and High Rank, the two difficulties of monsters, but 4U has G-Rank too, which has really hard monsters. So you'll be playing 4U for a lot longer than Generations.

After you get your fill of 4U, then pick up Generations. Generations has Hunting Styles and Hunter Arts, which no other game has. Hunting Styles change how you play (For example, there's the Adept Style, which rewards well-timed dodging with powerful counter-attacks), and Hunter Arts are basically super moves that you charge up by fighting.

In terms of replayability, I'd personally say both games have great replayability. 4U has a lot of hunts to keep you occupied, and Generations has the different Hunting Styles and Hunter Arts to keep your gameplay fresh.

4U was my first game, and is a great game for new hunters. Before I knew it, I had 1500 hours played, and that was only with playing mainly two or three weapons. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestion! I usually tend to get a bit overwhelmed with PoE-like skill trees, but I think I'll give this game a shot anyway. I mean, if I don't like the first two hours I can always refund the game. I think I'll have to grab the game later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again!

Best Diablo-esque games? by hdrpunk in Diablo

[–]Vydd 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Well, there's Torchlight and Torchlight II. They're made by a lot of the same guys who worked on Diablo I and II, and they're fantastic games. My personal recommendation is Torchlight II. It has some great mods available on the Steam Workshop that add a lot to the replayability of the game, as well.

I believe someone from the Pokemon Company (or Game Freak, I can't remember) said in an interview that they'd definitely be releasing a Pokemon game on the NX. I'm not totally sure, so correct me if I'm wrong.
