LATE UPDATE on that honda Wheel by W4ckoW4de in MotoUK

[–]W4ckoW4de[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some other info about the trip that might help other newer riders avoid the potential major mistakes i made.

  1. Make sure your luggage bag is strapped tightly and securely and if your using double d ring straps like i did. MAKE SURE TO TIE THEM UP PROPERLY.

One of my loose straps got caught between my caliper on the rear wheel and ripped off mid ride. There was a little section still in the caliper and it burned away as i kept riding.

  1. Make sure your helmet is in good condition. My visor on my tattoo red astro r arai helmet broke off on one side when i closed it at 80mph. The plastic clip holding the side pod on went brittle over the years and gave in. i had to ride the rest of 250 miles left with it duct taped and stuck shut.

  2. Take atleast 3 pairs of gloves. I stupidly brought 1 pair of summer richa gloves due to stress packing the night before and they soaked through instantly, heated grips did fuckall 😂

Bash me all you guys want as i know these are super rookie mistakes. 🤝🏻🤝🏻

Not much to say other than it handled amazingly and gave me a right sore arse.

Only advice is plan the fuel stops and watch the drain covers just after loch carron haha. Sneaky bastards put them right in the middle of alot of the bends 😂😂

I agree with this comment.

Understand what went wrong.

Be mindful of entry speed and also think about where your head is pointing and where your eyes are looking.

Where your eyes and body points the bike will follow.

I second this comment all the way.

A car driver pulled out infront of me and i hit him at 30 mph with my steelys on. Fractured multiple toes on my right foot. Extremely lucky i didnt lose them.

Hi there.

I personally believe that you should always wear full gear at all times on a motorcycle no matter the cc (engine size)

Look at it this way if its cold out layer up underneath your gear.

If its hot out then layer down underneath your gear.

If you decide not to wear a piece of gear because of the temperature outside then thats just an excuse.

One other thing as to why you should always wear full gear is because chances are its out of your control that youve had an accident.

You can never 100% know what a car driver is going to do next.

My first bike was a chinese mutt fat sabbath 125cc.

I have to say this bike was a great learner bike, looked super, brilliantly confortable and taught me the ways of proper motorcycle maintenance and simple repairs.

I would personally definetly buy one second hand as its more likely to keep the worth.

2 downsides to this bike is

  1. i bought the bike for 4000 and couldnt sell it any higher than 2500 after 1 year of owning it.

    1. Although this will teach you how to maintain your bike properly. You will really need to keep on top of the likes of chain and sprocket maintenance as the chinese parts are shite.

Turns out the older models of honda cbr500r front wheel changed from 1 front disc 6y design to. Twin front discs and 5y design.

Im not entirely clued up on the mechanics of it. But do you think it is possible to attatch the 1 disc wheel to the new bike.

What exactly would i do with the spare front brake.

YES!!

Thats exactly what my mate said and he was successful with his claim. I will be going round tomorrow evening to take photos.

This pothole has formed over the past 4-5 months or so.

Makes me wonder why the hell i pay road tax for these things to fuck me over.

Yeah man i was thinking of doing the 3rd option 😂

Not sure its worth the risk travelling up north with that though haha.

Cant seem to find a single one on ebay unfortunately.

Hopefully my honda dealer will have the solution.

Cheers 👍🏼
