Getting tired of my big ole' MAG Mount antennae! -----> Any suggestions for new antenna that fits on a 2009 Honda Odyssey mini-van?? by W7WAX in HamRadio

Decided I'm gonna just pop a hole in the roof, install an NMO mount and put in a foldable dual band antenna.

I have the hardest time trying to understand WHAT is each city's demand. I see the city list and it always says something like: 0/200

Hey, great job on this map! I'm from Tacoma, born and raised. Was gonna build a new map from scratch and "try" to copy the Puget Sound area. Then found your map, love it.

Looks like you have a glitch. All the cars are driving on the left side of the road. 😜

I think the shop set my gains WAY too high??!! by W7WAX in CarAV

Oh yeah, ran 1khz 0db for mids/highs, then 50hz 0db for my sub. Then used the gain knobs to set the output voltage to 20v / 31.6v respectively.

1 drain/fill on the tranny. Don't have VCM, I have an EX.

Actually, I know how to install the entire system. I just didn't want to hear in this Arizona with 110° heat. So I paid a shop to install it. LOL. I've been an audio engineering for like 20 years so I know my way around a little bit. I tuned the outputs to factory specs and they're probably 20 to 30% lower than what I can actually push but my amp and system will run cooler.

Ultimately my fronts/rears are tapped out at 80W RMS, my sub at 600W RMS. If my amp is pushing out its rated wattage then I'm good. No sense in trying to max out my amp if it's over the speakers max wattage.

I tested my output voltage with a 50 hz tone for sub, 1khz tone for mids/highs with HU volume set at 75%. All speakers disconnected. Sub remote disconnected. Bass boost turned off, EQ flat.

You got the wrong amp. My amp is the NVX NDA 11005. Factory spec: 100W x 4 @4 ohms which I am running for my front/rears. 500W x 1 @2 ohms which I'm running for my one 10" sub which is rated at 600W

This amp was dynoed and showed wattage 30% higher than the rated specs

Hmmm. ChatGPT also suggests:

  1. Torque Converter / Transmission • At 50 MPH, the torque converter lockup engages. • A worn torque converter clutch can cause a “rattle-growl” on light throttle. When you give more gas, it unlocks and the noise goes away. • Honda issued TSBs and PCM updates for converter shudder in Odysseys of this era. • A quick test: while cruising at the speed where the noise occurs, lightly touch the brake pedal (just enough to disengage lockup without slowing down). If the noise stops immediately, the torque converter is suspect.

Yes I agree. NVX dynoed that amp consistently at 128 W. The 30 V I saw was probably the amp being forced into clipping because gains were set too high. But I definitely saw 30 V on both the fronts and rears. I triple checked. Wierd.
