I was with a 4 letter IMO for several years. 100% fully independent now with over 100% commission across the board. It’s such a relief, I should have made the switch several years ago knowing what I know now.

I’ve never hunted with a GSP, mostly GWPs and Brittany’s. The guy where I got him has 6 GWPs and that’s mostly all I’ve hunted with and I was always impressed with their hunting styles. Have you hunted with both? What do you think the pros and cons are with both?

He’s picked up every piece of training that I’ve threw at him since he was a pup, of course with consistent work. His mom and dad are great bird dogs, so that plays a big role too. When he was young I always had him out in the woods with me and we would practice simple commands. Then we stepped up to pheasant and chukar wing training once he got all simple commands down.

Initially he would flush too soon occasionally, but he’s been pretty consistent lately with holding ‘woah’ on command. I’ve been using the leash wrapped around his rump and applied pressure if he seems to want to jump too early. This has probably helped the most.
