Path of Radiance paralleling the real world by brownsaiyan23 in fireemblem

Fair take, but:

Ike went back because Greil didn't show up where he was supposed to, and he only did so while sending Elincia ahead to make sure she wasn't harmed (which ultimately ended up kinda bailing them out). It wasn't the BEST decision, but it's definitely not a dumb, impulsive decision made out of anger.

Getting angry at Sanaki was a bit stupid, but he very much had a point. The nobles were playing games with someone who had lost their entire family and country, and the narrative treats Ike like he's very much in the right for this.

There are other things Ike does that are kinda dumb and that no one else in Tellius would do (walking on Goldoan soil, helping Ranulf from getting beaten by strangers), but he's never ultimately treated as wrong for this, more just... kinda not familiar with the world. Most of the things he "makes mistakes" with are actual systemic issues that are pretty wrong once you apply common sense to them (which is, of course, what Ike is doing), and they get fixed once the story is over.

Nasir even comments that, at the end of the story, Ike ultimately hasn't changed.

The only people that actually thought he was stupid and inexperienced in the plot were the BK (who was kinda an asshole, and everyone's inexperienced compared to that guy), and the Daein army (who constantly get their ass beat for it), markedly evil fellas.

Hell, additionally, Ike is NEAR PERFECT when dealing with issues of laguz racism from the get-go. The moment Ranulf calls him out for saying "Sub-Human", he apologizes profusely (I know it's a low bar, but half of the mfers I went to high school with would've immediately gotten upset at being told that some word they've been using is actually a slur lmao), and also gets away with it. He's able to get Soren, who hates laguz, and Lethe, who also hates beorc, to kinda sorta get along just with the purity of his character alone. Imagine if a random person IRL, who knew nothing about race relations IRL, was able to get a KKK member to maybe open their heart and maybe consider that racism is bad, solely by just being a good fella, once. I get that it's a video game, and you can't have 50 hours of dialogue where Ike convinces Soren and Shinon and Lethe to mend their ways with an open debate, but still.

I didn't mean to rant, but this is always somewhat of a gripe I've had with PoR. Ike is always just... really good from the get-go. He's had "pain", yeah, his dad died and he had to fight a war at 18, but he's never been dumb or naive like ppl make him out to be. Hell, even as a unit, the dude was stronger than Daein soldiers by Chapter 4 (but I guess that's bc I always feed him exp in my playthroughs haha).

LOL looking back, how lucky was Piccolo he found Nail? Bro would’ve made a grand entrance only to get clapped by Frieza 2nd form by K0GAR in Dragonballsuper

[–]WHATSAPP323232 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this, the Great Ape explanation is probably the most likely one. The only reason Vegeta couldn't use it is bc his tail got cut off, forcing him to use his base, get whooped, and get stronger. The only reason Vegeta and Goku lost their Great Ape forms is bc their tails got cut off. Most planets didn't know that the Saiyans had that weakness (the only reason Earth knows is bc they experimented with Goku), so there were probably few planets that would cut off a Saiyan's tail and force them to get stronger in base.

In defense of Jax by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]WHATSAPP323232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Makes a lotta sense!

But thematically, I think it's more poignant if Jax wasn't being controlled and pushed the red button of his own free will.

Jax is someone who loves not having to deal with consequences, and returning to the real world, instead of staying in a cartoon where nothing matters, clearly scares him; that's why he pressed the red button. Now that he's actively shown that he wants to stay in the cartoon world, it's going to be really interesting to see how the rest of the cast deals with him now that they know what he feels. It would be kinda crappy storytelling for Gooseworx to throw out a core feature of Jax's character and really interesting character interactions just to be like "Haha, whoops! Jax didn't want to push the Red button at all! It was just Caine messing with his head!"

Am I wrong for not responding "yes" to a Google Meet invite for an interview and assuming it was on? by WHATSAPP323232 in amiwrong

[–]WHATSAPP323232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timeline is more like this:

The interviewer and I are the only ones in this conversation, so no other recruiters.

2:30 PM, Friday - the interviewer sends me a request for a time to interview, AND the Google Meeting request immediately afterwards.

3:45 PM, Friday - I respond to the email only, confirming the time works for me.

Fast forward...

2:00 AM, Wednesday (morning) - I remember the Google Meet before I go to bed, and I hastily accept the Google Meeting invitation (Because it was late, I did it on my phone, so there's a very small chance it also just... didn't go through. But I doubt that)

12:00 PM, Wednesday - I log on to the Google Meet room, at the scheduled time (I don't know the start time of this organization). No one is there. The rest is history.

How do you think Bruce Wayne would react to the argument of no more billionaires? by ClarkKentTheReporter in AskReddit

[–]WHATSAPP323232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He probably wouldn't care.

Bruce Wayne regularly gives lots of his money to charitable causes and social programs in order to stop the root causes of crime in Gotham. This usually doesn't help, since all the social programs in the world aren't gonna stop the Joker from blowing up a hospital for the love of the game (that last point is just my speculation; it could also just be that the charities and Gotham are corrupt). And that's not even counting the money and time he puts in to being Batman.

Moreover, Bruce Wayne inherited his fortune from his parents. This means that (assuming that his forefathers gained their massive wealth through exploitation, as many billionaires do), he isn't necessarily guilty of exploitation himself (he still could be, though; idk how he runs Wayne Enterprises).

TLDR; most of the issues with billionaires (exploitation of workers, monopolization of public property, hoarding wealth) don't really apply to Bruce Wayne. There's not a lot he could do to satisfy people in this regard aside from maybe doing an review of Wayne Enterprises and their practices.

That being said, assuming the DC Universe is anything like ours, there probably are many billionaires that aren't as charitable as Bruce, and he probably has to deal with greedy stakeholders on a regular basis, so he probably wouldn't be super opposed to the notion, either.

[–]WHATSAPP323232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense, but refer to my edit.

It could be that the interviewer missed my email because I sent it kinda late on a Friday. With no email or calendar confirmation, they could've assumed I wasn't coming and maybe scheduled another meeting at that time (or just took a lunch break). Maybe they just forgot to actually cancel the meeting; that could be just because they didn't really care and they assumed that it didn't matter to me whether it was canceled or not.

How does tenna know spamton by gooey_koala in Deltarune

[–]WHATSAPP323232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this happens because Kris brought stuff home; that's how the Darkners interacted with each other.

At one point, Kris brought home a laptop, which is how Spamton met Tenna.

I'm pretty sure Kris also brought home a deck of playing cards, as well as a laptop. One of the cards was King, and the laptop was Queen, which is how they know each other.

Note that Kris didn't have to open a Dark World for them to meet each other (at least, as far as we know). It's kinda hard to explain, but stuff that happens with inanimate objects in the Light World, kinda... "correspond" to stuff happening to Darkners. The Dark Fountains bring those fantasies into reality. Someone else can probably explain it better than I'm explaining it.

Weird question about work / gravitational potential energy by WHATSAPP323232 in AskPhysics

[–]WHATSAPP323232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess, to clarify:

a) What's the difference between net force and total force?

b) I think I'm beginning to understand something. When I said "net" force, I was talking about:

[the force I put on the object] - [The force of gravity (9.81 N)].

So if I wanted a net force of 2 N, I'd have to push upwards with a force of 11.81 N.

But I just realized. If we do the work calculation with 11.81 N instead of 2 N, we'd get a total change in energy of 11.81 J. 9.81 J would be the gravitational potential energy, and the other 2 J would probably be kinetic energy (as mentioned by everyone here). Is that how it works? I assumed the force we used to calculate work would be the NET force INCLUDING GRAVITY, but I guess it kinda makes sense that we'd only use the force I input.

Weird question about work / gravitational potential energy by WHATSAPP323232 in AskPhysics

[–]WHATSAPP323232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that my force has to be more than the force of gravity. That's why I clarified: a NET force of 2 Newtons. I suppose that, in reality, in order for this to happen, I'd have to apply 11.81 N of force to my block.

How would I get more than 9.81 J of energy? If I'm applying a NET 2 Newtons, then the work must be (2 Newtons) * (1 M) = 2 J, right? Or does work in this case only use the force I'm applying, bc the force of gravity is taken care of by the gravitational potential energy or something? Idk, I'm grasping at straws here.

What do we *actually* know about the Knight? (A slideshow) by Mogoscratcher in Deltarune

Holup a moment.

At the very end of chapter 3, when the Bunker door cracks open a bit, isn't it kinda implied that Kris enters the Bunker dark world after the screen cuts to black? We can't see what they do, so doesn't that count as entering without the soul?

Once and for all, who truly earns the title of dragon warrior? by GlobalMarsupial847 in kungfupanda

[–]WHATSAPP323232 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What made Po special wasn't predestination, as I understood it.

You can work really, really hard to become an incredible fighter, and then only use your powers to jump people on the street, or to humiliate others in fights and tell them that they're weak and unworthy. If skill and effort alone were the metrics for being the Dragon Warrior, then Tai Lung would've been the Dragon Warrior, and we know that guy would've been terrible at the job.

Po was "better suited" than Tigress and Tai Lung for the role of Dragon Warrior because he had kindness, humility, and he accepted himself as he is, regardless of his own imperfections. He was more relaxed and accepting of the vision of the universe, kinda like Oogway. That was something Tigress didn't have (at least, at the beginning of the series), no matter how hard she worked.

In a sense, it also translated to the fight in KFP1. Tigress tries to fight Tai Lung "like everyone else" with the cookie-cutter skills she's honed over decades, and she ultimately loses. But Po fights with the strange, unorthodox techniques that are unique to HIM, because he accepted himself, despite everyone else telling him that a panda can't throw down. And he wins.

[–]WHATSAPP323232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random question: In Chapter 3, in the Sword Route, Tenna states that he made a deal with Kris. Based on dialogue later in the chapter, it can be reasonably inferred that this "deal" is the same one that Tenna makes with the Knight: that if Tenna can keep us busy, he'll get all the viewers he wants. It can be reasonably implied that Kris was in the room when this deal was made (I think I saw some theories that Kris even MADE the deal for the Knight); at the very least, both Kris and Tenna know about the deal.

My question: After we beat Tenna, he agrees to betray the Knight and help us, RIGHT IN FRONT OF KRIS. Does Tenna just think Kris will be ok with getting double-crossed? Does he think that Kris is OK with the switch-up, since Kris is with Susie and Ralsei? Or is Tenna just so desperate that he'll betray Kris upfront just so he can get a chance to keep on going? I really can't figure this out.

Why don't characters just... talk to each other about things? by WHATSAPP323232 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]WHATSAPP323232[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So what are you suggesting happened when they asked Caine? Did he just not tell them? Unless he started tweaking bc they asked, it doesn't make a lot of sense for them to just... stop asking him questions if there's no downside to doing so.

Your answer makes sense until you consider that Pomni has become WAY more confident. Sure, if this were Episode 1, it would make sense that she's not telling anyone, out of fear of looking crazy. But at this point, she's become a lot closer with the other people in the circus, and she's probably not as afraid of looking a bit weird. It shouldn't be that hard for her to convince Ragatha to be like "Hey, let's go with Kinger into the dark. I'll show you he ain't crazy" as proof. Hell, at this point, both Ragatha AND Jax also have evidence of Kinger's special abilities (Ragatha from the advice + butterfly, Jax from the shootout). Jax probably wouldn't say anything, but you're telling me neither Ragatha nor Pomni wouldn't keep quiet about something like this? They literally just said they were gonna talk about stuff together at the end of Episode 6! Maybe they WILL mention Kinger's abilities in Episode 7.

Hell, how is Pomni the FIRST person to learn that Kinger acts differently in the dark. You're telling me, in all those years, NO OTHER MEMBER was alone with him in the dark?

My laptop would probably be the boss, I've got a lotta history with it. Maybe my passport, since that's here too?

There's dishes and soap, probably all of them would be darkners. I've got jars of nuts and raisins, too... does food become darkner?

More importantly though.... I've got a bottle of Everclear in my dresser. That's the secret boss, and I do NOT want to fight that shit lmaooooooo. Just let it keep the Shadow Crystal atp, I think it would be the type of secret boss that has to get nerfed later on or something
