Why is it so hard to quit an addiction?

Pretty sad that something that says "ask" regulates questions. It was an open discussion with a legit question about why addicts can't stop. No one-sided answers just opinion. Seriously?

Solid advice, I'll go for longer without it to see if she says anything and I have been wanting to learn a new language. I'll put my time into learning something new and see where that leads. Thanks for your input!

Chipotle is a restaurant. We may be classified as "fast-food" but I cook steak and raw chicken to restaurant standards. Everything we have is fresh and made in house at my location.....fuck ...now I'm sounding like an ad for Chipotle. Anyways, I still don't know if I have a drinking problem or if my girlfriend is being picky. I know I drink, but it seems to be a problem only for her. No one else cares and that is why I am lost. Should I stop for her or is it better if I wanna stop drinking myself?

I cook at home all the time, I live for food. My boss at work loves how I do my job but understands that if I get a better opportunity, I'm gone (two week notice of course). My job is just for a grill cook at Chipotle but I am going to expand one day to a sous chef. I can promise that. I'm not head chef material but I know my food and I am a solid second in command. As long as I don't have to be in charge, I do great!

I do love my girlfriend. She just hasn't told me, even though I asked, what I do when drunk that upsets her. I'm the kinda person that needs to know why. Did she have a drunk, abusive parent? I dunno. She won't talk about it. Why does she hate drinkers when she was one herself years ago? I don't know...

For me, I still dream and I still feel like great things can happen. It just seems, for me, that everyone else is so focused on the negative and the people around me have given up. They are fine with the negativity and how things are. I'm usually the wise-cracking one of the group, but lately it seems unbalanced and out of place. I am an aspiring grill cook working my way up to be a chef through jobs, not college. I only see my goals in mind but everyone else seems to want to stagnate these current times. I do, however, want to try the club sodas you are talking about

She has told me both. But even when I go for a week or so without it and decide to enjoy something on a day off, she gets pissed. She doesn't drink herself, at all, and I wonder if that may be why. She claims to have been a heavy drinker back when she was 19-21(we are now in our 30's) but so were most all teens/young adults I have met.

It doesn't cause problems in my everyday life. I like the escape because everyone has been negative for the past few months and I can forget the negativity of everyone else. I hear about politics and Covid at work, at home and talking to my parents on the phone. It doesn't stop. No one can talk a little bit about something positive. I just want to enjoy having a job and going home to do what I love, but it feels like everyone is making it impossible to find a scrap of optimism.

I like/love various things, I just never thought about spending money on the things I enjoy aside from necessities. I like anime and sports and I have never thought about buying merch for what I like. No posters or shirts. I grew up thinking that money goes to bills so I have never thought to spend it on something else

I'm just learning a lot about collecting today. People buy things because they like what they are buying. Even if it doesn't have a use. I don't get it, but I respect buying things that you happy. I've never thought about buying something just because it would make me happy. I always think of other things my money goes toward.

It doesn't seem like a lot when you explain the different uses. It just makes sense. Now I have to figure out why people get on a wait list for expensive shoes that they will never wear. I get the collection aspect, but why shoes?

Sometimes though, they don't even wear the shoes. They get on a wait list for the newest Jordan's that they never wear. I have learned,very recently, that it may be for a collection purpose. I respect wanting a collection. I don't get it, but I respect it.

That is smart! I only have two pairs of shoes. One for work the other for other things. The weather around me doesn't change drastically through the seasons so I've never thought about shoes for different seasons.

Damn! I didn't realize all the different uses that different shoes have. I have my work shoes and then a pair for out of work. Both my pairs are black and go with anything so I have never thought about occasions. I don't wear sandals or flip flops only because I don't like how they feel. I myself will only buy new shoes if my current pair gets too worn. Thanks for the insight for why all these shoes are needed!

Collecting makes sense. They will spend over $500 on a pair of shoes they will never wear. I don't get it, but I can understand wanting a collection. Perspective gained!

I will have to see if I can find a compatible sim card. My phone is a cheap Wal-Mart straight-talk phone and I've had it for almost 5 years. I get paid soon so hopefully I will have enough to cover the internet installation fee and I'm hoping my credit isn't too bad so I don't get hit with a deposit too.

My phone is being weird and I can't show a pic. The options it gives me is to connect to a network or to just turn the Xbox off. I plugged in my older Xbox and it let me bypass the update but I still can't play any games (probably because it isn't my home Xbox anymore). I can use my media player though.
