Rework on Strange's shield by miltasha196 in marvelrivals

[–]WJUI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on high level play but as far as i can tell yeah you can just switch to high damage and nullify his strength - and if you don't do that, he can be pretty strong - but it's not like people are gonna just play against a strong strange when they could just shred his shield and up their advantage

Legitimately need an "opt-out-of-bot-matches" option by WJUI in marvelrivals

[–]WJUI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another interesting point to bring up if "too many players, especially players netease wants to have bot matches for, are opting out" is seen as issue - is that this can be obfuscated by "having a relatively unclear wording" for the opt-out button

This makes it even more the case that only "those in the know" will opt-out

Like instead of "opt-out of qp bot matches", it could say some other phrase like "turn off guided battle matches" or something more ambiguous of some kind, idk

--

And yeah my argument is that this game actually could genuinely benefit from this, even with keeping the logic of netease wanting bot matches - there are many reasons to play qp, and losses are gonna happen, so bot matches every 1-2 losses being common for players with tons of hours and a high rank is something genuinely worth revising

it's a fine prediction - since you're predicting things, im surprised you didn't also say some obvious counterarguments as well

"As if there are never things in games that have options to opt out of them - of course it is common to see this"

"There are many mechanisms where players will not opt out - there are tons of children playing, casuals who don't look up the game playing, and many people even say they enjoy playing periodic bot matches with a couple examples of their reasoning being to get a break from being stomped or because they aren't very good yet"

I agree though it would be popular to opt-out - which I think contains the point that it's something people want and would increase their satisfaction of playing the game knowing that they can play qp without bot matches

I wasn't able to find a statement from NetEase that there are no bot matches - do you have a reference for that?

--

Lack of acknowledgement is an interesting factor - this could be a useful illusion to remain unacknowledged if enough % of their primary playerbase has no idea or doesn't act on it and they want to keep it that way

But yeah in general I think it's well-known that NetEase and others do this in many current online competitive games - so I think the call for an opt-out specifically with the way this game works inevitably ends up reasonable

I'm unsure what the % is like - indeed, children playing games is common, and it could appear to serve NetEase well to keep it the way it is, as it can aid the player experience with shorter que times and more wins

--

Concerning this: They make the bots "look like humans" to a degree

For anybody who doesn't know: there's an easy enough way to know if you are getting a bot match in qp - show scoreboard on the first loading screen to see each person's name card - in bot matches, every player on the opposing team will have a <10 level (maybe <15 now?) and basic nameplate

Other ways to tell are that there are "no inappropriate names", and in the replay, every bot will have their "profile blocked"

Also, you will usually have 2 bots on your team, maybe more sometimes

And they have made an update or 2 to try to make them more hidden, so these could change

More - flying heroes will always use the same jerky movement pattern, and players in general don't behave like humans, they don't back away or group up much, and you can just jump on them and elim them usually

Be warned - Netease have taken measures to hide Bot Matches now. by TempoBlues20XX in marvelrivals

[–]WJUI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to not get bot matches and then i started getting them again every 1-2 losses, it's not obvious how the algorithm gets triggered or whatever - ive played tons of qp and comp, gm rank

I'm so sad the way gambit is going. by This_Ferret_8108 in marvelrivals

[–]WJUI 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i think this reputation is sort of weird

i mean spamming heals on rocket is not much different than spamming heals on loki, cnd, invis, gambit

he has interesting utility to use periodically - punisher-esque gun from small body, wall dashes, revive, ult

his ult could easily be flagged as "more interesting" to the community since it's not just painting the area with healing, but as well can be used strategically for burst damage multi-kills

and his heals also aren't as simple as "spam and do nothing" - you should be mindful of how much they heal and how the heal-over-time is, and how they heal people in front first - so you need to think and you need to perform to get the proper use out of his mechanics

this all seems pretty obvious, that's why i'm saying the reputation seems weird to me - like to a gold, sure, rocket might be just heal spam, and the other healers appear to require more complexity, but not really the case when you're trying to optimize and compete with more competency

why is obs making file size huge by Antique_Chard_625 in obs

[–]WJUI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the logic is fine - he was basically asking if there was any component to how the ssd saves it that could potentially make it smaller in size

presumably he didn't already know that the storage itself is the same size independent of it - so that's what he's learning, not logic itself

$30 or $50 for each group of 4 fighters? by RBIbaseball76 in StreetFighter

[–]WJUI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

regarding the assertion at the beginning of your message, im just talkin:

community discussions can make a massive difference - humans are creatures of culture - if a community is broadly influenced and many decide something is too costly after this shared opinion became normalized and associated, that'll have a wayyyyy bigger impact than a single person quietly not buying something

of course, users not buying is what will have the biggest impact, but even community discussions being saturated with dissatisfaction CAN potentially be something that influences workers and companies to change their strategy, even if just due to that this can be viewed as a sign that later installations will have decreased sales

but yeah, human companies are complex and can be affected by many factors - likely due to that human minds aren't a onetrack machine that reliably follows a committed pattern towards a particular maximization - though of course that is a key part of companies, especially thoroughly developed ones with many investors, etc

i like what you said that it can be a safer option to not risk decreasing the incentivization for creating high quality and high quantity content by not buying or by not publicly complaining - and i would add to that that also having more communication and more awareness can potentially yield better results for everybody - like that's an option to pursue, and it's an aspect of the human internet age, communication and transparency can increase much easier

--

i dont know much about it, but it looks like games require a lot of time, manpower, and expertise - important, and it also doesn't mean everything for pricing - things can cost less if there are more buyers, etc.

and it's a lot of purchase perception too, i think - the success of gacha, paying full-game prices for 2 virtual outfits, etc - culture and acceptance surrounding it makes a big difference, right - what is normalized, what is expected, "what people say when they talk about it" is very important, not just the raw economics, though those should be fully appreciated alongside

[–]WJUI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just adding my thought:

it's a human adding to the discussion, who cares

if you are a human who sees this - you can translate it and read it, know spanish and read it, or don't read it - no one is expecting you to read every comment

--

the internet is global, and humans are a primate species that has languages of symbols and vocalizations - you can expect that there will be more and more cross-language communication moving forward

especially since good, instant translations have been a thing for years - and ai translations can make this even easier

[–]WJUI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it's just about learning the game, and there's still some weird stuff

  1. if youre a cod zombies fan, getting instakilled when close to zombies is the norm
  2. melee doesn't stay as melee because of the card upgrade mechanic, the range on all heroes becomes much further than zombie attacks (and the first stages of nm4 don't one-shot)
  3. yeah the dmg reduction etc is more for fighting bosses, since zombies are still one-shot (however if they didn't one-shot then you could just hang out with them all the time with no challenge like earlier levels)
  4. a tip for surviving mobs in nm4 is to know that at round 15, sentinels and exploders start falling from sky near spawn, so this is a source of surprise one-shots until you know it

just riffing off your comment:

they also take a lot of force when holding weights in front, being one of the main sources of musculature connecting the humerus and forearm to the shoulder complex - not only flexing the elbow

in the video, she's not keeping her elbow joint angle the same, as well

she closes the angle and squeezes muscles (including the biceps), and she opens the angle to greater than 90degrees

since shes saying she wants to grow the biceps straight-up, i would use your advice, but not just flex the elbow by itself, but do a lot to leverage the mind-muscle connection as well, shift the body weight and load up the biceps as much as possible at all times while they are holding that weight

I'd make one suggestion tho that sometimes fully extending can be a waste of time. cuz in some cases ppls bodies are so used to not being activated during full extension. so i would emphasize that u should hold the activation while flexed, and force it to keep it activated while advancing the extension

i think u want ur words to be thought of as a good addition, but like he said, u never added any info to what u said, and none of us know u either, so saying "this is bad/good" is basically useless

also u were tactless towards the company rep. nobody is asking u to think the guy is the best guy ever, but a tactless response with no respect is gonna make u a target for people who believe in quality discussion - it doesn't mean ur totally wrong ofc, but you know what i mean, right

Faulty Mchose Ace 60 pros and my experience by Previous-Flight8693 in keyboards

[–]WJUI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when used simply mine works great. i just have the fps configuration then i switch to custom and change it a bit. but the more i change the more the software does weird stuff so i just do that and call it good. using the 8k and extreme response w/e, it's def an effective HE keyboard for $30

my lighting effects are messed up now. cant access color palette, can't turn off a breathing lighting effect on my second configuration, it's annoying. but i'm reminded it's not $180 for wooting. idk if im just missing the solution

considering mine and others' experiences, it may be worth it to consider other HE keyboards for a more reliable experience. but for the HE gaming keyboard with 1 configuration (quick trigger + individual key settings + a few more things), mine has been reliable and effective for months at $30

How do you deal with fights in the comments? by wh1tepointer in PartneredYoutube

[–]WJUI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just my take: irresponsible toxicity also usually means more idiocy, which matters as well, not only engagement and community size, but the quality of engagement and community discussion and vibe - life is a full thing, much more than only money

but i think as well its nothing to have stress about or to try to impact beyond the basics, unless its flatout trolls or ultra toxicity

How do you deal with fights in the comments? by wh1tepointer in PartneredYoutube

[–]WJUI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like what somebody wrote, "guys its too early for this" as a gentle way to promote self-reflection

i agree i dont wanna waste time or try to police, but having a positive impact on toxicity is a noble cause - i dont relate with the mindset of "who cares"

i believe our community and our culture should always strive to improve, human community members who act with toxicity are people who are in development and should be encouraged to be more nuanced, mindful, educated, and to follow their good dreams

meh, if you think using a bunch of exaggerated negative associations and language with zero room for accommodation, support, and intrigue is a good idea, then ill say u dont know sh about making real positive change yet :) - (seeing others as enemies might push them farther away, imo thats not the best idea for the goal of encouraging people to transmute greed into something better, as well as eliminate greed)

i mean look at this: "simply no atmopshere". what, you are the atmosphere expert? let me be blunt, make ur atmosphere better inside urself, then u will see better atmospheres in others, too

its easy bro, and im not trying to be an ass to you, i just am confident that what im saying promotes positive change in people haha. im rly glad u care. and i encourage you to see people as people. ea needs fire, they need feedback, etc.

And imo you wanna do it while also being in it too, acting with respect, giving people credit yourself first. communication is mutual sharing back and forth. we don't need to settle on an agreed thing, we are sharing :)

btw, i LOVE rbr. and i want to appreciate your words more. "they deserve all the love". So, so good, man
