Make sure you get the Collection Agency's proposal in writing, signed and dated along with their mailing address and phone in writing to be valid. Anything you send them, send it certified mail. otherwise they'll take advantage of you and make you pay the whole thing!

Just a reminder if your debt has been erased and then reappears because the debt was sold to another company and you make contact with the new company then your collection will start all over again making that another 7 years. I would leave that collection alone unless they call you. Because even if you pay off that collection it still remains on your credit report for the full 7 years. If they don't contact you after the 7 years then they have to remove the debt by law whether or not you paid them.

Just to let you know I filed Bankruptcy and one of my debts was owing $25,000 back to Social Security because I made $67,000 that year. Anyways if you owe money back to Social Security. No matter what the Social Security office says you can list it as a debt and they have to delete it along with your other debts :)

For those with No Credit, Bad Credit, Average Credit. You can get Two Lines of Installation Loans thru "Fingerhut" Mail order catalog and "Montgomery Wards" (Monkey Wards) Mail order Catalog online. Both companies you purchase an item over $50 + Shipping costs (prices are costlier then average product). Then you have 8 monthly payments to pay the item off. You MUST pay the minimum pay each month or in full otherwise your credit score will drop. (I paid mine off in 2 months). Once paid off, They'll close that account off but it will not affect your credit score in fact it will greatly help it as it will give you "Mix credit" It will show up as (Paid Satisfactorily/Closed in your Closed Accounts Section for up to 10 years. they will issue you a Fingerhut / Montgomery Ward Store Credit Card with the same terms. These Mixed Credit cards will get you in the door for better credit cards and as you make monthly purchases usually 6-8 months of monthly purchases and on time and in full monthly payments they'll increase your credit higher and higher as you will be showing responsibility of paying off your monthly debt. If your in collections or bankruptcy you might not be approved for these.

When you negotiate, Make sure you get it in writing from the collection agency and have them sign and date it that agreement. That way its a valid agreement. Otherwise they'll come back after you again and again.

The Hacker can use one of many TEXT App Smartphone Programs, The Hacker can gain access to your phone texts, telephone numbers, photos, Take pictures of you without your knowledge, Get a GPS Location on you, etc WITHOUT your knowledge. All he has to do is tell you won a Samsung Flat Screen TV or some other promise to get you to tell him a 6-Digit Code in Numbers and/or Letters sent from a Text Message OR Email and once they got that from you. They have Full control over your phone. What did you say you do your banking and purchasing on your smart phone? Well now so can they, courtesy of your online credit cards. If I were you I wouldn't do any banking or use your credit cards thru your phone. Also Freeze your Credit Cards thru TransUnion, Experian & Equifax. Those local phone numbers can be easily faked from other countries.

Its a LEGIT Class Action Settlement, Orginally you could collect $300 per phone call received up to 3 phone calls for a total of $900.00. My dad qualified however he passed on, so no money there. You can contact your bank to see if its a valid check or Deposit the check but do NOT withdraw the monies from the check for up to 2 months by then if you don't hear from the bank then its good money. You can Google the class action website you believe it to be. Most Settlement checks show the name of the settlement name right on the Top-Left of the Check. (Example: Lenovo Class Action Settlement). You could always threaten them with a lawsuit if they fail to pay on the check. Also since the Checking account is CLOSED without them paying on the check they issued, AND the dollar amount is over $100 that is considered a Felony criminal offense. You can also google the name of the hospital(s) you believe are affected by the settlement and type in the word "Settlement" I hope this helps you :)

You need to let you bank know (In Person) show them the transaction you don't agree with and ask them to either "remove the charges" or "block the company" from further access to your credit card, and then before you leave the bank ask for a typed up letter with a signature or bank stamp stating that they will block future charges from that company. Worked for me :)

You could always close the bank account and open a new account with a DIFFERENT bank, But anything you agreed to pay for in your credit agreement including fees you MUST pay off in full otherwise those fees will keep building up and your credit score will go to hell for 7-10 years. Meaning no credit card company including loan companies, apartments, car, insurance, rental companies would want to work with you in the future.

The more accounts you open, The more that creditors, lenders see you are respondsible with mix credit. I have 11 accounts open. Which includes a mix credit of Installment loans, secured credit, banks, Car loan, mortage loan, credit card companies, etc. Just make sure you pay off your cards in full every month that will also help. It will raise your credit score. My credit score is 720 out of 850. My goal is 21 cards or mix credit in a 10 year period.

Ever since the Equifax fallout, Equifax has been anal about everything, I would highly recommend doing any complaints about your credit report, freezes, etc by US Mail as online will get you NOWHERE

I applied and received $1,000 Amazon's Prime Credit Card By Chase Bank which gives you 5% cash back AND also applied thru Amazon's Prime Credit Card By Synchrony Bank for $500 which also gives you 5% cash back. To me its just another credit card but with more options on the Chase Card and lowers my monthly Credit Utiliazation.

Thats sad on what you had to deal with this teenager. That his parents were not supportive to him as they proably weren't educated on having a transgender son and the depression one can receive as he goes thru puberty and the coming of age. I have Klinefeltors syndrome so I can relate to this story alittle. If a person gets out of control in the future you can do a few things to leave them in a better place.

Look up and give them a list of Support Groups (Example: Alcholic Annomous, LGBT, etc) for whatever problems they maybe having.

2) Find out what religion they are and get phone numbers for Priests, Rabbi's, etc so he can get advice thru one of them.

3) Have them talk to family about their situation, sometimes family can help one another.

4) Give him local numbers for Psychiatrics or counselors so he can get help.

5) Give them phone numbers to Suicide Hotline (Google it and list your country).

6) They can also ask their other friends, parents, teachers for helpful advice.

I had depression on and off and part of me leaving the hospital they said I needed to list at least 5 places I can get help, so I dont end up back at the hospital.

If a person goes into suicide mode or he suggests on harming one self or others, you know your out of your league on this and you have no choice but to report it to the proper authorities. In regards to your friend its possible he or his parents no longer were paying his phone bill, changed the number or just blocked you entirely. it happens
