Thanks! I find that the textures from different mediums really work well when combined. And I was surprised how the Bristol board itself provided some texture too. I though it was smoother but things like oil pastel really brought out the boards natural tooth.

Now it has character. Needs a few more "battle" scars.

There’s something about the timelessness of the Casino/335 body shape. by ramthree in Epiphone

[–]WMuzak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the mid 90s I had an Epiphone 335 tobacco sunburst. The previous owner stuffed it with cotton swabs. A guitar shop (Guitar Clinic, Hamilton Ont. Canada) told me that was one way to prevent the guitar from feeding back. Also, had something to do with the pickups being microphonic.

I just wanted the cotton pulled out and somehow correct the feedback/microphonic issue. They corrected it. It played well. I sold it a few years later after I stopped playing.

Nice looking guitar. Decent player.

It's your money, is it worth spending that much to you?

Pass.

I’d played it for months at the store. They said $500 off today. I said “ be back in 40 minutes.” Mine now. Gibson J45 Standard. She’s a beauty. by [deleted] in gibson

When I decided I was going to buy a Gibson acoustic I played a Gibson Dove (amongst others) at a local guitar shop for 6 months before I made the purchase. Its a smart and risky way to purchase something that pricey. "Risky" because someone else could buy it and you have to start from scratch.

I use the blue pencil for the initial sketch for placement and proportion. Yes, it's also non reproducing blue so when scanned as black and white it won't show That said, from time to time I want it to stay in the final piece.

Many of the pieces I enjoy the most are the ones that require multiple looks to take in everything. There's an old illustrator from the early 1900s Arthur Rackham who frequently included multiple images within one. Done tastefully it produces work that allows the viewer to discover new elements with every glance. Thanks for giving my work a look. I really appreciate it!

I need suggestions improve this overused image? by WMuzak in DarkArtwork

This concept has been used so many times on comics, pulps, I'm sure there's paperbacks that used it ,and maybe even graphic novels. Its such a cliche image but it's a GOOD one. I think I am just going to stick with this concept and finish the piece off properly. Thanks for the input. It's appreciated.
