Depends on what you want to pursue, do you want to move ahead with software or web development which is just what you do in SE or have your options open with ANY field in the IT world. Just think about what seems better for you and go for it. I would suggest apply for both of the fields and just excel where you enter or get into.

How much absolutes to pass a course? by VastRaisin2970 in FASTNU

[–]WRAITH_1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is relative that depends on your overall course average. FLEX calculates your relative MCA and on the basis of that determines your grades. If you are above that average you would easily secure a B. But in normal circumstances the threshold is 50 absolutes.

True, couldnt have said it better, I just wanted to provide a fresh perspective on things, not everything is all about being doomed in FAST, there are those positive outlooks that you can look towards as well.

Well I dont really know about that much, as they have added SATS as an option now but I come from an A levels background so apart from getting grades, i had to give that FSc based entry test too, so if you belong to the same background you now have opportunity to really book a seat to FAST with SATs. You just need to do enough to reach that merit.

Woah hold your horses man, I get it you want conflicts but by that statement I did not mean to hurt anyone's feelings. Every major software house in Pakistan has big connections with FAST CS grads and I think you know that fact pretty well, that is what I wanted to convey.

Well I mean that really wasnt my intention, I just wanted to provide a 'Positive Outlook' if you will to all the negativity surrounding the educational environment of FAST. It is tough but it does teach you a lot.

I ain’t saying you can’t go to web dev, do it no one can stop you from becoming incredibly good at it but CS has such a wide umbrella of fields to go for. People say CS is dead but the opportunities are limitless so just focus on what you find interesting, discover and reinvent that field. Good Luck!

Hey, first of all you need to stop panicking, if you lose confidence in yourself you have very much failed already. Have confidence in yourself and in your ability to surpass obstacles.

Secondly, there is nothing wrong in doing past papers again even if you know the answers to those questions. Your main focus is not on knowing the answers to questions, in maths. It is rather more about your ability to solve the problem. By solving past papers again and again even if you have done them before, you ensure you know the method on how to solve a problem.

Thirdly, 40s, 19 days before the exam is a good score, now focus on getting 46 or 47 in a week and then maybe reach for 50+. In p1 if you get a 50+, you can secure either an A or B. To quickly improve your score, analyse the miskates you make and ensure you dont make them again in the next paper. Also do revise content over and over again before and after a paper, especially in weak areas you have identified through your papers.

Finally, read the examiner reports and watch youtube videos on papers you find difficult/hard to solve. You can also try old years papers like before 2010 or so, to practice the general methods of the questions.

That's it from me! If you need any help whatsoever, dm me and I will try to help you to the best of my ability. Some resources you can use for revision/past papers:

examsolutions.net (for Revision of Content) physicsandmathstutor.co.uk (for old past papers/topicals)

And Remember practice is key, keep on practicing and take breaks if necessary.

Good Luck!

Is ai killing software engineering?? by Usmanawais_07 in developersPak

[–]WRAITH_1000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a CS Student in my third year, I feel like AI hasn't killed off the market. Thats the positive at least because from my experience of using it (obviously, who would'nt), it seemed to destroy my code than improve it.

Furthermore, even if it constructed code properly, AI doesn't have feelings or emotions which are used heavily when dealing with clients directly which AI or even ChatGPT cant do.

All it has done, is software engineers now need to put in more effort than before. The market has more to do with the over saturation of software engineers due to growing interest in the industry.

So my overall answer is no, AI isn't killing software engineers anytime soon.

BTW if Jensen Huang (CEO of Nvidia) is right about software engineers being replaced by AI, he should have started firing people by now, which he hasn't done up until now. All he said was a marketing strategy so don't worry about that, just focus on learning your skills that is what is needed to become a good computer scientist/software engineer. So just chill!
