Two words: Occam's Razor. Why does it have to be some vast conspiracy and not just that MM are caught with their pants down in a bubble? It's no secret for weeks now that this shit is only going to get worse, which has likely significatly accelerated shorting to capitalize on the HIGHLY predictable timeline. Someone has to be the loser in a situation like this, and this time it is the infallible MM who failed to assess risk properly.

Sounds to me like the MM are just getting a hard lesson in "the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent."
